Small, local museum with some interesting historical items and a good way to get inside the castle!

I didn't take an audio guide but walked on the pre-ordained path throughout. I saw interesting Roman and Burgundian items, also found out more about the prehistoric "menhir" standing stones on the outskirts of town. Amazing, go there too! You can get a feeling for the castle itself too, and pass through the medieval chapel. It's worth a visit, especially... More

I have done the tour in this castle a few times and it's always very impressive. There is so much to see and do as the historical exhibits range from prehistory until modern times. Audio-guided tours are available in English, French and German (and others on request) and are included in the ticket price (10 CHF for adults). I fully... More

Excellent collection, ranging from prehistoric and roman artifacts to modern history of the evolution of a major trade and commercial center. The chateau itself is an interesting building for lovers of architecture, and kids will enjoy seeing where the dungeon was! Amazing collection of 3 wooden canoes, dating from pre-historic to Roman times. Many more artifacts from different historical periods,... More

Nice 2 hours. Difinetly take the Audio guide. Would recommend it, and it is something different to do. That sums it for me.

If you are interested in History this is a must visit place. They have organized and presented the whole Yverdon history in a remarkable way.

We got there too late to tour the castle proper, but we did see the ancient boats in the dungeon. Not only are dungeons always awesome, but the ancient boats were well preserved and there were raised platforms for excellent viewing. If the rest of the castle is as well arranged as this, then it must be great.

Located in the chateau that dates from pre-Roman times, the museum takes one from the early Neolithic. We had only a half day and so had to curtail our visit before getting to the present century, but the number and variety of the artifacts, and the audio explanations - in perfect English - left us wanting to return for the... This museum inside the old castle is surprising good. A number of varied exhibitions - roman stuff, military stuff, old canoes from 2000+ years ago, stuff about the industrial ages... loads of different stuff. And what a castle. worth the visit just for that.

We made the museum just a part of our day in Yverdon. We often take train there from Geneve'. There is always something going on during the summer months. This time there was an outdoor concert of music right behind the museum. The market was busy and it was just wonderful weather. There is a great little restaurant diagonal to... More

...Just take some spare time in case you're afraid to miss something while you're around. Mainly for folklore and historical to contemporary mode and seam amateurs.
