Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

You can't miss the Mangturm as you walk along Lindau harbour. We didn't go inside but did stop to read (and attempt to translate!) the signs. It's a novel sight, especially with Rapunzel's hair dangling from one of the windows!
Another landmark to add to Lindau's charm! :-)

Lovely old tower along the waterfront promenade. Very photogenic with plenty to do round about it,cafes, railway station and bus stands all are just a short walk. Also the boat trips and boat services are very close at hand

Once we arrived at the harbor of Lindau we noticed a huge tower. We had no idea that this was the Mangturm. What was weird is that a long, blond braid of hair was hanging from one of the loopholes. We found out that it was to remind us of Rapunzel. Strange!
Still this tower is quite attractive and we wanted to learn more about it. We discovered that it was build in the 12th century as part of the fortifications to protect the city. At that time, it was surrounded by water, but not any longer.
It was a perfect place to watch for any enemies that wanted to cause trouble!
After the new lighthouse was built in 1856, they added another story on the Mangturm, the yellow part of that tower at the very top. Why? I couldn't find any explanation for that, except that it made this tower quite more attractive.
This tower though adds character at the harbor. The Lion, the lighthouse and the Mangturm are all quite attractive!
Good luck in trying to catch that braid of hair!

A pretty tower, cheap entry, good view of the lake.
Other than that there is not more to say.
Distinctly average as an attraction.

For me it was more likely like Juliet throwing a rope for her Romeo, to be saved. It is very well located, right in the center of the promenade, problem is that only children can go inside for a tax of course.

It is one of the landmarks of Lindau. We came to take picture of the lighthouse and found this Mangturm located along the harbour walk. There is a cafe next by which looked quite relaxing.

My likttle granddaughter was over joyed when I sent her the picture of Rapunzel's braid hanging from the MANGTURM. She was willing to fly over and see it for herself. Childhod memories indeed.

Ok it's just another old tower sitting on the quayside. But it's part of the Lindau ambience and heritage, and Rapunzel's hair adds a little bit of fun.

a mangy tower ... but one of the older sights in that part - sit at the Helvetia hotel with a coffee and enjoy the view

It´s like fairytale and so magical. Eye-catching colorful tower and it´s one of the landmark in Lindau, Bodensee just in front of the lighthouse and the lion with a scenic view of Yatchs, Ships tour and Restaurants. Don´t miss to take a photo.

Hi, I would like to go up the Mangtrum but will have my 2 year old daughter with me. How is the walk up? Narrow, lots of stairs, doable while carrying my 2 year old? Thank you!!
