If you like hill walking then this is for you because the climb is 800m long from the bottom to top at about 12deg, or you can pay €6 per head and catch the transport (kiddies train) from the Main carpark or around town whilst it is on its travels. The view is amazing when you reach the castle. There... More

It is just a beautiful castle with lovely views a lot of history and some nice collections inside. Quite a cheap entry too. Definetly worth a visit. It is a bit of a walk up hill, so worth taking the regular "Schlossbahn" leaving form the Wernigerode centre.

After a slight climb up the hill, getting to the castle was just out of this world with breathtaking scenery. Inside was amazing and the guy on the desk so so helpful

Worth seeing for its position if nothing else. One is able to see a fair selection of rooms and do not necessarily need a guide. the small street train will take you up to the castle . this is a wise move !

This everything you'd want in exploring a castle. We went at Christmas and it was pretty empty. Bad weather, few tourists but.... we had the place to ourselves!! No English tours at this time of year, but the Germans all seem to speak English anyways so we received royal treatment. We toured it all the way from the dungeon to... More

Toured the castle on a chilly winters day but it was great. Did the two towers and made our way around at our own pace. Read what we could when there was information written in English. We could have had headphones but got by without. Coffe and cake to warm up in the cafe.

I spent my birthday here eating real schnitzel and drinking real hot chocolate the day after Christmas. We were spending the holiday with family in Germany and my Daughter in Law suggested we go to this castle. I have visited many castles through out Europe. It's not up there with my favorite but it was a memorable day due to... More

Must-see in Wernigerode. Unfortunately no photos are available to take there, but it worth going to. Nit very fancy, but cosy and nteresting. Great location above the city.

I have visited many castles throughout Europe and found this castle to be the most interesting. Every room was furnished with furniture of that period. The headsets that could be rented for a nominal fee presented good information. The view was spectacular.
