Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The cathedral is beautifully situated on top of the hill in Limburg town. The colourful roman exterior is in sharp contrast with the gothic ascetic interior. Very much worth a visit. And it is a nice hike up from the town below.
A note, the castle is next door, but undergoing now a big renovation.

The cathedral rises above the old town clearly visible from the highway A3. It is worth a detour if not a day visit. The town itself is charming and a tourist magnet, and the cathedral is beautiful from the outside and on the inside. The colors really work very well.

A very quiet and peaceful walk through the grounds of Limburg Cathedral. Beautiful views of the city and surrounding area from the walls above...

In this admirable old city of Limburg you must see the cathedral. Its impressive structure and the medieval Paintings will bring you back to the times of building - hundreds of years ago.

Situated at the highest point in the town with an open area in front it is an imposing sight. Amazing decor and many towers. Not to be missed when visiting the area.

It's worth a trip if you're in the area. The cathedral is beautiful, the lawn leading up is beautiful and it's right next to the river. Very peaceful and it wasn't packed with tourist. It's a little out of the way from primary tourist visits. Lovely town!

Went for a day while staying in Frankfurt.
Limburg is a very traditional old medieval German town with the feel of a romantic village.
Beautiful old cobbled streets with lots of timbered houses, some being almost 700 years old.
Cathedral is definitely worth a visit and there are free clean public toilets on the way up to it. Always a bonus!
Lots of nice shops, cafes and restaurants, all reasonably priced.
Small tourist information on the river bank where English is spoken.
Definitely worth a visit and would recommend for a taste of traditional Germany at its best.

...appears suddenly when you drive on the autobahn from Cologne to Frankfurt (or vice versa), coming down the "Elzer Berg" and having a look in a broad valley. On top of a small hill the dome was erected almost 900 years ago. You'll reach it after a short walk through the old town of Limburg and will be overwhelmed by this amazing building.
The old town of Limburg is also worth to visit. Thanks to the fact not having been destroyed in the last war and to the efforts of the citizens to maintain the buildings the old town is a nearly perfect ensemble of very old houses which reflect the taste (more or less) of a time journey back into the let's say 17th century.
Many small shops, comfortable restaurants and cafes are waiting for customers. In particular in summer, even in the late evening the town is very busy due to the many places to stay. On the other side, Limburg is also a modern town of about 35000 habitants which provide all things that are required for the daily life. Even the fast train (ICE) stops here on its way between Cologne and Frankfurt. From Limburg it only takes about 20 min to the Frankfurt airport.
