This monument is situated way up on a hill overlooking Kelheim. We were able to go after our Danube cruise to the Weltenburg Monastery. It was not very busy and I was unsure about going, but was pleasantly surprised. The monument is HUGE and beautifully...More

The views are really beautiful - there is a river, mountains, forests etc. The monument looks great as well. The only downside is that it is not free and there is not much to see for the money.

This is a memorial to the victory in the Napoleonic wars, stressing freedom, unity and liberty. It is currently undergoing extensive renovations so access is limited and the exterior is partly covered. There are some great views of the Danube Gorge from this area. Toilets...More

The Befreiungshalle is located on top of a hill which you can either access by foot, bycicling or car. Its a beautiful architecture inside and outside and on top of it you´ll have a good view over Kelheim.

Big round hall commemorating the German wars against Napoleon in the first part of the 19th Century. Interesting and with good views over the river.

Half of the scaffolding is down so you can now see what the renovations look like. The building is huge and the Angels take your breath away as you first walk in. The €3.50 is fair as you couldn't spend a long time in the...More

You can drive up the hill or take the little train. There are great views of the Danube and surrounding countryside that do not require payment to the Befreiungshalle itself.
