For years we have visited Flensburg to shop and stretch legs on the harbor or the city centre. Taking the family to the Glücksburg Castle only few km outside Flensburg was a nice new add on to our shopping trips across the Danish border.

We visited the castle at Glucksburg for the first time and it was just stunning. The grounds around the castle were also very scenic.

Looks like a fairytale castle as you approach.
We had an interesting and informative tour guided by a woman in historical costume. Some amusement at having to put large slippers over our shoes to protect the wooden floors, and to keep them polished!
