See Hermann every day when I open the curtains. Hermann is a must see when in Lippeland, an impressive sight towing over the surrounding woodlands...amazing views on clear days from the view point just beneath the statue.

Very good place to visit and spend some time with the views. There is also a good point to remember the battles between romans and germans

This monument is a must see when in the area. I enjoyed it and the beautiful view. Reminding of the victory of the Germans against the Romans 2000 years ago, it points out to one of the first key moments in the history of the German empire.

While based at Detmold in the early 70's we often used Herman to zero in and improve our arial photography so it was nice to revisit this magnificent statue. It is well worth climbing the many stairs up to the crown of the tower as the view from there is truly magnificent. There is also a high-wire course in the... More

The monument for the Germanic tribal leader Hermann or Arminius, is an impressive statue in the middle of the hills near Detmold. You can buy a combination ticket with the Externsteine, which I both recommend. When visiting both locations you should wear sturdy walking shoes, the surroundings are steep, but astounding. There are gift shops and restaurants nearby, and the... More

The statue is great for a small stroll around. Parking is euro 2.50. The climbing of the stairs to the top of the brick building cost euro 3 the view is great but you are not able to go inside the statue itself.

Visited during a cloudy day which gave a fitting setting for this melo-dramatic giantesque monument. The rather feminine poise and general appearance of the great hero, feathered hat and all, makes you smile rather than look in awe...

Lovely place to spend a few hours. There is an interesting old workshop/house of the creator to visit and it has a miniature copy including the internal structure. You can climb up for a better view of the surrounding country side.

For a quick excursion or add the Exterstein and make it a day trip from Bielefeld. Interesting history and the info signage was in both German and English. It's worth the climb inside the tower but get a combo ticket with the exterstein for €4.50 for good value.

I visited when it was snowing. I must say i liked it. The view of detmold from the top of Statue is very beautiful. Around the statue there are also many things to do, which can keep kids entertained. During the summer, some concerts and open theaters are organized. As its also near to the Adler park, you could also... More
