I have always been fascinated by the zeppelins and took the opportunity to visit the museum when we were in Konstanz. It was a rainy day (Monday 24 October) so it was perfect for being inside the museum.
The museum was very crowded that day - many students and children. That made the tour a little challenging. Many of the exhibits had narratives in both German and English, however, there were some that had no English. We don't speak German so that is the reason I rated the museum "Very Good" instead of "Excellent." The recreations of the passenger spaces, the gas and fuel storage, the bridge, etc. all added to making the visit very good.
What I can criticize is the parking and the way it is marked. I was driving a rental auto and it took me probably 10-15 minutes to locate a parking place. The fee for parking was not easy to see in the rain and I missed it until time to leave.

Dear bu67,
We are delighted that you enjoyed your visit to our museum so much and that we were able to captivate you with the history of Zeppelin. All content on the exhibits is available in several languages, including English, of course, in our free app. You can choose whether you want to read or listen to the texts.
The museum itself has no parking spaces and our sustainability goals encourage travel by public transport. In this respect, visitors wishing to travel by car will have to use the public car parks in the city. We have no influence on the signage and pricing of these car parks. However, we are in constant exchange with the city to improve the signposting to the museum.
We look forward to welcoming you again soon.

I recommend this museum to all visitors to the area. An excellent history of the Zeppelin including a life-size interior. It is also has a section on the local companies MTU, ZF and the war. The top floor was an art exhibition. Almost every information board is in English and German.
There is not parking available directly at the museum, but it is a short easy walk from the underground parkhouse at the lake.
The museum has free lockers but you need a 1 or 2 Euro coin to activate (you get coin back) and free toilets but you need to get your ticket first.

The material and content of the museum is very interesting. But despite the high number of staff, nobody (neither three brochures) indicated is that the first stop should have been the media room, to have a proper introduction. Also there rooms and exhibits are in an unclear order, so that we could not really follow logically the material presented
A pity, as the content is really interesting. Still interesting 3 hours we spent in there

Dear francyak,
thank you very much for your visit and your rating. You're right, the media room is an ideal introduction to the exhibition and a great starting point to your zeppelin journey. In "normal" times, staff actually does advise our visitors to visit the media room first. During Corona we have to monitor the number of people inside the room so some people are steered towards the exhibition floors first and encouraged to watch the 3D movies later. Since they can also be a good way of finishing your journey.
We admit that the exhibition concept can be a bit confusing, as there is no clear circuit. This is due to the fact, that the museum building is a historic monument and used to be the harbor train station. We had to adapt the exhibition to the premises.
We accept your criticism and are pleased that you had a good time in our museum afterall.
We hope to welcome you again soon!

We made the mistake of visiting on a rainy day in the school holidays and it was packed! You had to queue for approx 25 minutes to get to look around part of the interior Zeppelin exhibit which took approx 5 min to look around and then queue for another 20 minutes to look around the sleeping quarters! Why couldn't you look around the whole of interior in one go? It made no sense to have to queue twice for so long for something that really wasn't worth it. I think they let way to many people into the museum at the detriment of the visitor experience. The temporary exhibition on computer games was weird and disturbing and really not suitable for young children. Having said that if you were to go when it's quieter there are lots of hands on stuff for kids with interesting and thoughtful exhibitions.

Fascinating museum. Get the app-based audio guide when you arrive. Lots of stories about the people involved in these mega-beasts of the air, from the early inventors to passengers in the heydays, as well as explanations of airships' development and journeys. Scale models allow you to compare the size of, say, the Hindenberg to that of a modern jet aircraft - and it's quite a shock!

Well located museum on the waterfront. Lots to see but not clear about the direction around the museum. There was an APP but the exhibits didn't clearly refer you to the audio - and I only found the audio on the app the day after leaving the museum. Beware if you take any bags, even a very small handbag, as the staff may make you leave it in a locker. Annoyingly it seems this policy isn't applied consistently to visitors, so some were able to go around with back packs. Seems a little over the top as the exhibits are all behind glass, so not sure what damage could be caused, and a simple look in a bag may have sufficed.

This is an excellent museum carefully tracing the istory of the Zeppelin. There are interesting artefacts and well written descriptors (although mostly in German with English sub-titles). A highlight of our trip. A great restaurant as well for lunch or a leg-resting coffee break.

Dear Iain A,
thank you very much for your visit and your rating. We're glad you 've had such a great time in our museum. For your next visit we want to recommend our Media Guide that gives lots of additional information in all kinds of languages. Even the 3D movies are translated simultaneously.
We'll pass on your review of the restaurant aswell :-)

An excellent informative museum. Start the journey with a life size replica of the original zeppelin used by the wealthy to take transatlantic trips. See the lounge & bedrooms of the original airship.
The museum has lots of separate areas - covering the original ideas for air ship flight thru to modern day. Information & artifacts cover the variety of uses for airships & the history of its success & failures. All areas have u formation in German & English.
There is a museum shop.

A very instructive museum on the zeppelins and other airships with a fantastic reconstruction of part of the Hindenburg. The museum itself is full of interesting objects and stories but is lacking a well defined museological structure, making the visit a bit random. But still a place to recommend.

If doing a tour of the Bodensee area then you have to make a stop to visit this museum. The history and mechanics of the Zeppelin are well covered. Recreated areas give you a sense of the size of a ship and the style of travel. I was disapointed that there wasn't an actual airship anchored above the museum but we did see two in the sky, over the lake, during our visit to the area.

Buongiorno, siamo un gruppo di italiani (14) che verrà in visita al Museum il 07/07/2018. Volevo sapere se esistono guide a pagamento in italiano e parking per motociclette !?
Grazie

Hi there!
Yes, the Zeppelin Museum is definitely kid friendly. They even supply some small items for kids such as cardboard "suitcases" with baggage tags to fill in by the kids themselves. Also the small section with merchandising items, including toys of the period could be fun. The walk through a reconstructed section of a Zeppelin gives an idea how stylish wealthy people travelled at the time.
Have fun!

Hej,
