Getting to Mainau Island

This was a beautiful spot to park your car while getting to Mainau Island by boat. Afterwards pick a cosy restaurant for lunch.

Great to walk around here and looked at the architecture and the frescoes and ornate doorways. Lots of shops, cafes, and even a great little market. Loved the people watching.

All though it might be very crowded with tourist, this place is just beautiful. If you start heading north you can also get away from the touristy area and find great hidden paths with unique shops.

Beautiful buildings and small streets. On Saturdays it can be very crowded (and not that pleasant). You can visit the Cathedral and if the weather is nice you can enjoy the view from the top. You may want to have lunch/dinner in one of the restaurants or just take an ice cream and walk around. Check for the photo or... More

Another visit to Constance: Still one of our favourite town in good old Germany. Well, it seemed to be invaded by tousands of Swiss people ...

We stayed in the old town. There are cobblestone streets with very old quirky houses. Lots of places to eat and drink and watch the world go by. It's very close to buses, trains and boats. A must when in Konstanz

If you are into old European buildings, there is plenty of old charm to keep you occupied here. The paintings and detail are amazing on numerous buildings. Make sure to keep your eyes up, as we almost missed one or two.

By far Konstanz has the best old buildings in Europe. They were never destroyed during WW1 or 2 as its very close to Switzerland and the all war parties never bombed the Swiss due to thei neutrality (Konstanz turned on their city lights at night same as their Swiss neighboring towns, so as no one bombs them). Because of that... More

Our family spent a couple hours sight seeing in the old town. It is well worth the time. Old buildings dating back to the 1200s. Lots of nice shops, cafés, and restaurants. We really enjoyed it and will go back and do it again. Staying at a hotel in the old town is well worth considering. Parking appears to be... More

It is a misnomer to call this an Old Town. It is actually just a pedestrian area with loads of shops, cafes, restaurants and a couple of churches. There is really nothing 'óld' about it. It is good for a stroll, some nice shops, and very good vegi restaurants and cafes.
