    A Real Gem
I spent a really enjoyable couple of hours wandering around this really interesting place. There is a huge variety of displays from farm machinery, telephones, printing, clothing and family life etc which are all extremely well presented and annotated. I was lucky to see live demonstrations of rope making and blacksmithing. Both gentleman were very knowledgeable and skilled. The 1898 slab house is a real gem. Special thanks to all the lovely volunteers who make this place happen.
Thanks for the 5 Stars and the great review. So pleased you enjoyed your visit. Regards Brian

Don't miss this museum in Hervey Bay!
Visiting a local museum is always on our to do list when travelling. This one is up there with the best! Looks small from the front which might make some question paying the $10 entry fee, but don't be concerned. It's surprisingly large! We moved through the exhibits and village reasonably quickly, and it took us 90 minutes. Wish we more time available to take it slower. There is a blacksmith demonstration daily 1-3pm. Unfortunately we didn't have time available to stay for that, but they have a video of the demonstration looping on a screen in the blacksmith area, so we didn't miss out. The staff at Hervey Bay Museum are lovely and knowledgeable. As we always find in these small town museums, there are people on duty who are passionate about the history of their beloved home and are happy to sit and chat about anything and everything to do with their town. Highly recommend putting this museum on your list of things to do when you visit Hervey Bay. It's a gem!
Delighted with your review. Many Thanks for the 5 Stars Our demonstrations are unfortunately not daily, only on Sundays 1pm to 3pm. Pity you missed them. Regards Brian

    Hervey Bay’s Hidden Treasure
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Hervey Bay Historical Village & Museum. The many items on display were beautifully presented in a neat and orderly manner with lots of interesting information included. We didn’t realise how big the museum actually was until we entered the grounds which were immaculately kept. It is a credit to the volunteers and all involved in the running of this museum. When in Hervey Bay, a visit to this museum is simply a must!
What a great review. Many thanks for the 5 Stars. I will make sure our volunteers see this. Regards Brian

Open air museum - very surprising
Had no idea the museum existed until we came across it on Australia Day - what a surprise! It's an open air museum and contained a lot of old buildings including a church, farming equipment and cut-outs of farm animals. Great place for the kids.
Thanks for the review Brissy2 Appreciated. Regards Brian

A must see while in the Bay
Fantastic place to visit for old & young alike. It’s like the TARDIS - bigger than it looks from the outside! We are locals who have been plenty of times but there is always more you haven’t seen or noticed each time you go. Could spend all day wandering! Highly recommend.
Thanks for a great review. 5 Stars appreciated. Regards Brian

Nice museum, built with love and passion
A very nice museum which is rich in artifacts and maintained and built up with love and passion. I really liked the visit and would have liked to have more time as it is much higher than I expected. Worth a visit when you are in the area but make sure you‘ve got time!

    BEST OLD VILLAGE & MUSEUM
The old village was so well designed, with each display flowing into the next. So many old wares and displays, one of the best we have seen. A credit to all the volunteers who manage it. Well worth a visit

    Quite the surprise attraction
From the carpark looking in to the historical village the size of the facility is not revealed until you get about exploring the extensive grounds and thirty one historical buildings. This has been a labour of love for so many locals over the years, the collections were most enjoyable to view, so many memories of my own life came back as I explored, in particular the old school classroom and shop. Walking through the slab hut from 1898 was simply fascinating, the conditions of the past must have been tough, living through extreme temperatures. We spent one and a half hours at the attraction.
Many thanks for the great Review and 5 Stars Kpiddy. So pleased you enjoyed your visit. Regards Brian

    Wonderful & full of history
What a ripper place. My husband and I both in our 40s had a really great time at the museum. Spend a few hours looking around. We especially enjoyed the exhibit about the SS Mahona wreak after seeing it on the beach at Fraser the day prior. We’ll worth the visit.
Thanks for the great review and 5 Stars. Regards Brian

Definitely worth the $10 entrance fee.
Around 3 acres of buildings, sheds and gardens.
Allow at least 1 and 1/2 hours to see it all. Longer if they are demonstrating corn shucking or blacksmithing.

This little historical village is not little at all. There is so much to see and explore. We couldn't believe how large it really was, we just kept finding more and more to see. The collection is far bigger than we expected and it is so well displayed and put together. Each room tells a different story and some rooms feel like you have taken a step back in time. I am proud that my town has such a beautiful tribute to the past. And the volunteers of the Hervey Bay Historical Village and Museum have done a remarkable job putting it all together.

Great value for money and a fabulous way to spend a few hours reminiscing about things from your parents, grandparents or even your own childhood.

My friend and I went on a Sunday morning and were really surprised at the size of the site and the quality of the varied exhibits. We had a few laughs and shared some stories along the way.

My favourite display of the Maheno wreck, Urangan Pier and Fraser Island brought back fond memories of my childhood, growing up in Hervey Bay.

TIP: Make sure you have a water bottle with you as there's nowhere mid-site to buy a drink, only at reception.

Full credit to the many volunteers who have done a wonderful job sharing and preserving history for everyone to enjoy.
