A great experience
Jul. 2019
The Baglio is and old refurbished castle, surrounded by its vineyards from which they make the most spectacular Sicilian wines. If you are staying at Al Poggetto, Baglio is across the road and a wine tasting is a must - it's not just the wine but the experience of the grapes and the process, the cellars dug 30m under the mountains and then the luxurious buildings that house a very good restaurant as well as some dozen rooms. We stayed at Al Poggetto and went to Baglio for dinner. Highly recommended for the food as well as the friendly staff and the highest quality wines for a fraction of the price you'd pay elsewhere.

A great experience at the Wine Tasting at Baglio di Pianetto vineyards
Jul. 2019 • Couples
What made my experience suberb? It is clear that this place produces wines, with a heart for quality and a subtle ear for market demand. A great mix of value for money wines and an assortment also for the more serious and quality palate, Agnus is definitely a great acquisition, a contender for any precious northern reds.
The wine tasting is accompanied with a relaxed but yet very informative recital of the motives, development and learnings of each selection of wines and we did it just for 2, so a genuine consideration for wine enthusiasts who don't want to be bulk served. One of the best experiences, for great product but above all a sincere and generous tailored service. A tip : remember to ask a simple snack and a taste for local if you need to balance your intake of wine.

Simply wonderful
Jun. 2019 • Couples
You may get better food in other places, better wine (possibly), better bedrooms , better staff ,a better 30 metre swimming pool, more stunning views. BUT, all of this at this standard ,all in the same place, at this kind of price. I don't think so!
Make sure you do the wine tasting. Interesting, really good wines and a thoroughly nice guy taking you round

Peaceful, beautiful, warm and tasty
May 2019 • Couples
Set on a hillside in the Sicilian countryside the very first thing we noticed driving onto the property was the serenity of the setting. We drove in from Agrigento and after the adventure of driving through some of the narrowest streets I have ever seen the sound of only the breeze and the gravel crunching under the tires was a welcome pleasure. Once my wife and I were checked in and had a chance to walk the grounds there was beauty everywhere. From the hillsides covered with vineyards, to the many flowers and greenery (visited in early May), to the quality and details of the buildings, to the art and décor. As we interacted with the staff their hospitality and warmth were genuine and ever present. We stayed at Baglio di Pianetto for 3 nights tasting different menu items at each meal and were never disappointed; Sicilian caponata, veal steak and homemade pasta with sardines to name a few. Overall I would highly recommend Baglio di Pianetto...….oh and don't forget the wine!!!

Picturesque and peaceful
Dec. 2018 • Couples
We were there for a friend's wedding and I can't speak highly enough of the whole experience.

The staff are amazing, they can't do enough for you. The food and drink are local and the highest quality.

From what I saw the organisation of the whole weekend wedding was great. We were never waiting for staff to sort things out and the decorations they put out were elegant and beautiful.

The area is so picturesque you won't want to leave. It's so peaceful. My only regret is we didn't have time to go to the vineyard or explore the surrounding area more.

Amazing Wine Estate
Mar. 2018 • Couples
We recently stayed at Baglio di Pianetto just as they opened for the season. The hotel and restaurant were charming and the view from our room of the vineyards and countryside was breathtaking. The staff and service was at the level of a luxury boutique hotel. Our bathroom was amazing. We had a great dinner at the restaurant as well as two breakfasts where the staff went out of their way to prepare our american style request. We scheduled a winery tour with a 6 glass wine tasting. My husband is also a winemaker and the guide was very informative about their organic processes and varietals. The roads in the countryside were a bit of a challenge, but google maps steered the way. We visited Monreale about an hour away - a beautiful mid-size town with a lot of history.

Incredible lunch
Oct. 2016 • Couples
While we showed up here unannounced and were able to enjoy an incredible lunch with wine pairings, we did seem to surprise the people who worked here with our appearance, so I think it's best to call ahead to make a reservation.

That said, we were so delighted to get a brief tour of the beautiful property, and to be seated in the sunny atrium room for one of our favorite meals during our 8 day visit to Sicily.

We kicked things off with fish cakes and a typical Sicilian appetizer - caponata, a sweet and sour eggplant dish with other cooked vegetables. I don't typically like eggplant; this was outstanding. For our main courses, we enjoyed plump, soft gnocchi with butter sage sauce and ravioli with shrimp in a red sauce. Each dish was paired with a glass of wine, all of which were terrific (we purchased 3 bottles as we left).

Visiting Baglio Di Pianetto was a wonderful highlight of our Sicily adventure, including the mountainous drive there!

An escape from ordinary world
Aug. 2016
The hotel is situated in the middle of a vineyard, far from any form of civilization. On the map seems near to Palermo ( only 30 km) but in fact are 30 km of dangerous curves true the mountains wit a breath taker view. So, at least 45 minutes to one hour to drive. But if you went to the hotel you will not need anymore Palermo or something else. The rooms are superb, the propriety is huge and absolutely gorgeous, with big swimming pool and garden and of course lot of vineyard. The food is made with the local products but not in the traditional style. Try the wine of course because is very good. So, in few words, if you want to escape from the world for couple days or a week, this is the place

A French mentality winery in Sicilian territory
Apr. 2016 • Friends
Dear readers,
Baglio di Pianetto was a great surprise. It's a scarse 1 hour drive from Palermo airport in the middle of the Sicilian in-land. It's not too far from Sciacca, the Sea and Corleone (not over 1 hour drive) and driving around the area with the car is breath-taking. Location is awesome. The resort is on top of a hill with tremendous view of the wineries and rocky hills. The resort has a private cantine were they produce half a million bottles per year. The facility can be visited (really impressive) and the degustation at the end is something to look forward to. The resort has 20 very comfortable rooms, a private pool which I think it's the biggest I ever saw (almost 90 feet) and you breathe a typical Sicilian laid back atmosphere. The resort restaurant is also pretty good and they use in-house olive oil which can be acquired and which is pretty damn good. It reminds me a little of the french Bordelais area ten times cheaper! Also, intimacy is guaranteed

Great guided tour and wine tasting
Sep. 2015 • Family
We wanted to visit a vineyard on our holiday in Sicily but as we were staying in Mondello near Palermo our taxi driver (Adriana Viaggi) advised us to visit the family owned Baglio Di Pianetto vineyard rather than any of the further away ones. She (very carefully) drove the 6 of us in a minivan up into the hills along windy roads to the family owned vineyard 40 minutes away from Mondello where we were staying. Alessandro was our tour guide in the vineyard and he was very entertaining and knowledgeable. After the tour we were taken to the adjacent property within the vast estate. Alessandro lined up 4 wines for us and took us through the tasting of them. The wine was accompanied by numerous cheeses, olives form the vineyard and various savoury pastries. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience with Alessandro and thought 15 euro/person was very good value. We would definitely recommend this attraction. We visited on a Friday but if we had been able to return at the weekend (end of September) we could have participated in the 'harvest grape gathering' and festivities which sounded like great fun abut unfortunately we had other plans.
The large house itself is run as a small hotel and has beautiful views across the countryside. It had a lovely pool area and courtyard etc. We didn't investigate prices to stay there but it would certainly make a lovely holiday, although a car would be necessary.
