    Very informative and well done
We had a great tour of the facility. We were three couples travelling together and our spouses were not Whiskey drinkers but thought the tour was excellent and very informative. This is a small distillery so the tour is a lot more personal and interactive. Mandy the tour guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and took the time to answer any question we had. it was a great experience and we would totally recommend it.
I'm glad you all enjoyed the tour - maybe we now have new whisky drinkers?! Thanks for posting. Andrea

    Great experience even for non-english-speaker!
I went to Kingsbarns Distillery with my family in September and did a guided tour. It was our first visit to a distillery and my parents dont speak english so we were afraid that they wouldnt understand anything but Kingsbarn handed out papers with translation on the content of the tour so all were serverd. The guide was very entertaining and friendly and explained everything on a level everybody could keep up with. They showed a lot of props to underline what they were talking about and to give us an idea. We also liked the "smell-experiment" in which you blindly smell the scents of the different tastes their whiskeys offer. Of course the highlight of the tour was the tasting. We 100% recommend visiting Kingsbarns! It was a very pleasant experience for all of us!
This is a great review to read, thank you for taking the time to post. I'm glad you ALL enjoyed your time with us! Andrea

Fun time in a small distillery
We had a fun time here- it is a great experience as it’s a small place with a gin distillery as well next door. We liked the personal touch of a small group instead of the massive touring places. We did go on a weekend I would suggest to try a weekday as it would be running
Thanks for posting - useful review! Glad you enjoyed your time here. Andrea

History and Whisky lesson with tasting Whisky tasting session
Great tour with my husband and son, the guide was very informative and we enjoyed learning all about Kingsbarns and the Whisky they produce. They had a few no shows but that made our tour feel like a private tour as only a small group. The tasting experience at the end was really good to and we loved the whole experience. We wish Kingsbarns every success.
Thank you for your good wishes and especially for posting a review. Andrea

    Super cozy and welcoming
Really nice place, very knowledgeable and welcoming staff. A nice little tour and tasting. Jenni was a brilliant tour guide and very helpful in the shop after. We got little nips of anything we asked for so we could taste what we wanted before buying.

Great experience, from the start to the end. We booked our tour as an experience for our Hospitality students to enhance their knowledge. They absolutely loved it. Great communication during the booking process. I would highly recommend to visit this place.

    Fantastic visit !
We visited the shop and the restaurant and both were well worth it. The food was lovely, but the real gem was the Lady from Glasgow who worked in the shop ! Sadly we didn't get her name, but she was so friendly, engaging and informative, we learnt so much about the distillery and the various Whiskies and Gins produced. No hard sell, just a really warm and helpful conversation, got to try several Malts and ultimately bought a couple of bottles. Really well worth a visit !
Lovely to read your review - glad you enjoyed your time chatting in the shop! Andrea

    Just ok!
As a rainy day option in a rather boring St. Andrews, this was nice for my husband who is an avoid scotch drinker. The distillery is rather new, about 9 years old, on the small side, but with a lovely elegant tasting room. 45 minutes in and out in the middle of no where about 20 minutes outside st. Andrews city center.
We do indeed offer a good rainy day option! Glad we could oblige; thanks for posting. Andrea

    Enjoy it all
Beautiful place. Friendly staff. Delicious whiskey and gin. What more you can ask for! We totally enjoyed it. Our guide - Dot Mc Cloud was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She introduced us to the history of Kingbarn putting it all in the perspective of Sotush traditions. As a foreigner this was very interesting. The exposition is also very cleverly done and innovative. Thank you For! We also had a really delicious soup and cheese scones in the café.

My friend and I had a fantastic tour at Kingsbarns Distillery. The Distillery is in a beautiful old building and the woman who took us around was so knowledgeable and also gave us a great insight to the history in the area. Everything was also well prepared for taking the regulations regarding COVID-19 into account - so the tour felt very safe. The tastings at the end were lovely and it is definitely a very nice and smooth single malt despite still being a very young whisky.

We arrived with no one at the desk, this was quickly rectified by a really friendly member of staff named Michael.
We were then told the tour would start in a few minutes and to browse the shop. The tour guide started without us and we only knew when Michael invited us to join.
Safety information was given and the tour guide showed knowledge of whisky in general throughout.
The issues arose with being spoke at; not with. The information was given outside of the areas (I.e told about the distilling process before the pot stills and then not matched up - “before we spoke about the pot stills, here they are in action…”).
It was a short tour and a quarter of it was taken up by a video.
This was followed up by whisky tasting. One of us was driving and in every whisky distillery we’ve ever been in before, the place is equipped to let drivers take away their whisky tasting measures. Not here, so one of our party was actively left out of activities when they had paid the same as everyone else.
A bug was in my whisky and only rectified by my friend giving me their whisky, not by the tour guide.
Then when one of our party when buying a bottle, was made to feel judged about their choice by said tour guide.
When leaving, Michael asked how it went and we spoke about no options for drivers. Michael, very quickly, apologised and went to source a takeaway option. This was so quick and very helpful.
Overall, we didn’t leave really knowing about Kingsbarns. There’s a lot of potential there due to how much invested has clearly been put in to the building however the experience did not meet expectations.

Many thanks for your detailed feedback. I’m sorry your experience fell short of expectations. The reason we now spend time explaining the production process outside the production area, using the infographic, is to reduce the distillers’ exposure to visitors, during the pandemic. We have generally found that visitors find the infographic a useful tool for explaining quite a complicated process! Apologies too that you were not offered drivers drams, which is standard practice here. We have discussed your feedback with the team, as it is rare that we get negative reviews, and we want to be sure that any criticism becomes a useful lesson. With best wishes. Andrea

I have visited many distilleries over the years and, indeed, first visit Kingsbarns some years ago before the first whisky was available. Having returned for a "proper visit" I was very impressed by the very knowledgeable tour guide. He gave a particularly good tutored tasting of two of the distillery's single malts.

Kingsbarns may be new, however, it offers a crisp and clear whisky that belies its age, as well as setting a high standard for what can be produced in Fife. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, offering up an excellent tour and tasting experience. I'd put Kingsbarns on anyone's must-visit list for Fife. Heck, I'd consider it a great addition to any itinerary for folks looking to explore the sheer breadth of flavours offered by Scottish distilleries. One note: maybe don't bring up craft brewing, haha. Sigh.

Myself and my partner regularly visit this side of Scotland as we are based in Broughty Ferry. We were on holiday for about a week and decided to finally book onto one of the whisky tours, as we’d been wanting to go for ages and it definitely did not disappoint!
Our tour guide (I think his name was Ronny!) was fantastic and taught us some new tips about tasting and sampling whisky that we had never heard mentioned in previous whisky tours so that was a fab bonus. I’m not the biggest whisky drinker myself but have always been fascinated by how whisky and other spirits are made so it was wonderful to see this at a local distillery. Also, the whisky itself was incredible - this coming from someone who isn’t that into whisky!
Throughout the tour social distancing was of the upmost importance, masks were worn throughout (with the exception of the tasting session itself) so the distillery also have to be applauded on that front.
There is also a gin tour available which we will definitely be taking part in in the future! If you haven’t visited Kingsbarns Distillery yet definitely get yourselves there!

Kingsbarns Distillery Tour was fantastic! Our Tour Guide Ronny was excellent, extremely knowledgeable on not only the Distillery, but the Whole Scottish Whisky industry. No question went unanswered. Everything from arrival to departure was nothing short of top class. A thoroughly enjoyable experience!

Recieved a voucher for my 50th birthday and not had a chance to use it. Arrived 10 minutes early as recommended. The building is lovely, we were welcomed on arrival and introduced to our guide. We then had a very informative and enjoyable guided tour. It was interesting how much work goes into perfecting the process and what ingredients is used along with the type of caskets and time needed to get that perfect wee dram. We were taken into a lovely room where we sampled some of the whisky and learned more about the history of the whisky. Would definitely recommend the tour.

Very disappointed with the lack of acknowledgment from young staff member in so called cafe.
Advertised as a visitor attraction with cafe. However on our visit at 13:20 their was only two soups available or macaroni pies or a slice of sponge cake. For a visitor attraction the cafe is of horrendous offerings theirs no menus on tables only a board at the till which makes you feel pressured into last minute picking. No sandwiches or what one would expect for a lunch. Young staff member in cafe was dry rude with no interaction or minimal communication
Very disappointed would not recommend or be returning.

I'm sorry you had such a poor experience in our cafe, and that you did not receive our usual friendly service. We will make sure to bring your comments to the attention of the team. It sounds like you visited on a day where we had an unexpectedly busy morning. But we are currently reviewing our cafe offering and our menu will be expanding very soon. Thank you for your feedback about the menu being on the board; we will address this at the same time. Apologies again and thank you for your feedback, which we fully take on board. Andrea

Kingsbarns Distillery is a jewel in the crown of the East Neuk of Fife. A fabulous cafe, wonderful staff and a great whisky tour. This is only a small, young distillery compared to others that we have been to around Scotland but there is a strong focus on customer service and experience. The cafe has excellent food for a light lunch and at very reasonable prices. A huge well done to Alan, our tour guide, who kept us fully informed about a slight delay to our tour due to a party arriving late.
In summary, we highly recommend this as a stop off if you are visiting St Andrews and Fife.

Our time spent at the Kingsbarn Distillery was very interesting & extremely enjoyable. Made even more pleasant by our guide Dot, who was professional, friendly, knowledgeable & had a great personality.
On the whole I feel like the overall experience was time well spent & felt it very personal, probably down to the fact that its a small Distillery with fantastic family feel to it, that keeps everything as locally sourced as possible (even down to the on site cafe which serves delicious savories & cakes (not to be missed)
To be honest we have visited other much larger distillerys, but this was a much more pleasant experience as we didn't make you feel like we were on a conveyor belt system.
