The "must do" climb for any cyclists in the area. We found it tough but the scenery is stunning and well worth the effort. We are blessed with excellent weather - the snow arrived the day after we were there so expect that from mid-September....More

Been up this road by car in all weathers and always wanted to cycle it. Job done, an amazing ride up from col de Lauterat in brilliant weather. Did it on mountain bike and then did the off road descent all way back to Villarr...More

Traveller by motorbikes. The Street is really bad. Dangerous because you cannot really see where the road is going to.

Due to road construction elsewhere in the valley, we took this road up to the pass instead of the recommended (toll road) Frejus tunnel. It s clearly worth the detour. The view is breathtaking. You feel quite small up there!

breathtaking views, endless curves, not much traffic if you belong to the early birds, don't use the tunnel but cross Col du Calibier via it's summit.

A must do for any type of cyclist. Speed up and down or just go at a slow pace, but it must be done ! From the telegraph side is better, that way you get to tackle 2 cols

great bike climb from valloire , its not for the faint hearted , it will test you and the lack of oxygen at the top is something to watch , great panoramic views from the top

I have traveled the Alps by motorcycle for more than 20 years. The climb up the north side of Galibier is one of the best in the world. Beautiful views, gentle layout.

This is one of my favourite places ... cycling up here offers endlessly changing, open vistas which delight all your senses. An awesome place, literally.

Questions & AnswersAsk a question
Is the Col du Galibier open summer 2015 between St Michel de Maurienne and the Col du Lautaret, along the D902? I only ask I as I know the Galibier has been removed from the Tour de France due to a landslide threat.

I rode this entire stretch of road last week. It is open and there is no obstruction. Anything can happen in the future of course.
