A great way to kick start our first skiing trip!
Having done lessons in the UK at places such as Xscape we wanted to have a private lesson for our first family skiing holiday. I found the website quite hard to navigate and ended up emailing to book our lesson. The response wasn’t as prompt as I would’ve expected but then we arrived to resort I can understand why as they have hundreds of lessons on daily. Unfortunately due to a significant flight delay we had to move our lessons. Again I emailed and the response had gone to my junk but the next morning got a call to say they could move the lesson to the afternoon due to the circumstances. We got Thomas as our instructor and he was fabulous. Showing us how to successfully use the chair lifts and gondolas and taking us down the green runs and showing us new techniques in a short period of time (2hrs 30mins) . Was great value for money with a wealth of knowledge and would highly recommend to anyone coming to Alp Dhuez. Also witnessed great patience and lessons amongst the younger children and all instructors are extremely caring and nuturing .

Super level of teaching, but lack of group levels and flexibility to have the right teacher and group to have fun !
I had amazing ski teachers (5 in total in 2 weeks). The only very bad thing is that there is not enough levels : you can be in level 3 (confirmed skiers) and it goes too slow, or you can be in same level with expert skiers and it becomes too difficult to follow... I had the problem in various classes. It's also a pity you can not change group and teacher if it does not suit you (after all, you spend the whole vacations with the teacher and the group). During my second week, I did not even go to my morning lesson, because the group was not friendly. In the afternoons, I had to let it go because it was too difficult for me (but very friendly) : I changed to the only other group available, which was just above beginner level.... so did not use a lot a whole week of classes !

Excellent ski school. Rémy, my snowboarding instructor, is fantastic. Very patient and skillful. Really great experience there. He made the lesson fun and helped me develop my skills significantly. I’d highly recommend ESF Alpe D’Huez and Rémy T.

    Wonderful skiing experience
We had 5 private lessons with Jean Pascalle and it was the best thing we could have done to improve our skiing. We started off as beginners and with Jean Pascalle's help we ended our holiday being able to parallel ski. He was very patient with us and very kind. Due to his teaching and the suitability of the resort for beginners, we're all ready planning our return trip. Hopefully Jean Pascalle will be able to help us continue to improve.

    Amazing experience
I had an accident in the snow in 2023 that took me to hospital for a full week. This year I was determine to learn how to ski, however I didn't realize the big trauma my previous accident left me. I was very lucky to find Remy T, he is a great coach! very professional and fun but mostly very experienced in my opinion. I had my first lessons with him in January this year and it was so good that I looked back for him when I returned last March. From getting frozen in the first lesson and in panic from my previous accident, to not only learning how to ski but being able to do a Green with parts of Blue and absolutely loving it! He pushed me and challenged me but I also felt safe under his coaching. Absolutely amazing experience, highly recommended.

Just back from a super week in Alpe d’Huez - the highlight being the ski lessons with Zofia and ESF. Brilliant instructor and brought us all over the resort slopes. Thanks, Zofia - super week!

It’s a month since the week we spent at Club Med Alpe d’Huez (12th-19th Feb) but I felt the need to express our gratitude to the ESF instructors who really highlighted our holiday.
Our daughter Amber was happy with Serge, her instructor in Flocon, and our son Robin enjoyed Nicolas Mocci’s lessons in 1ère étoile. Both children grew in confidence over the 5 days and impressed me on Saturday with how comfortable they were with their level of skiing, knowing their own limitations to keep them safe and able to control their speed!

As for myself, I was lucky to be in a snowboard group led by the expertise of Bruno Orcel, a true old school snowboarder, who shared with us knowledge of his homeland terrain, with historical context and wellbeing tips, making it a personal and authentic experience on the mountain. Bruno gave us a good balance of technique, critique, approval, humour and fun freeriding but also with his multiple language skills we could enjoy a nice cultural exchange. As an extra bonus we even had an extra instructor, Alexandre, join our group for added guidance.

Praise, respect and many thanks goes to these quality ESF instructors for the wonderful job they do. We hope to see them again.

I advanced from absolute beginner to blue slopes (with a little bit of help in the afternoons from my husband!) in group lessons with Jerome. It was lots of fun, and I learned so much without it feeling like school. Jerome knew exactly how far to push, and when to help. Thank you!

I had 6 days of ski school with a French instructor named William. He was very professional, incredible at explaining the theory, and he was super kind. He surely created a great atmosphere in the ski school class. I give William and ESF my warmest recommendations.

I was a nervous level 1 skier who only started skiing in my 50s, but I had the most amazing week with my ESF ski school group! Our instructor Melanie was outstanding - patient, fun, excellent English language. She got the balance between challenging us and reassuring us just right. I felt my skills and confidence improved hugely. We really got to explore the area well, tackling new runs every day. Loved it and highly recommend to others.
