Good fresh produce. Cooked foods (African, Asian and Middle Eastern) are poor quality though so stick to fruit and veg.
Mar. 2020
I've been here many times. The fruit and vegetables are fresh and affordable. The bread, butchers, poulterers, charcuterie and fromageries are the same price and same great quality as everywhere on the border of France and Switzerland. The huge disappointment is in the cooked food. There are really bad examples of African, Lebanese, Turkish, Vietnamese and Chinese cuisines. It's not surprising in a town of fewer than 10 000 people that there just isn't any competition so third or fourth rate foreign food is accepted as the norm.

Fantastic and atmospheric market
Sep. 2019 • Friends
This market is big and very busy. It is really atmospheric with loads of stalls. It’s a mixture of clothes and food stalls and all the food is really fresh.

Prices are a little expensive but that’s because it’s so close to Switzerland.

Highly recommended.

Lovely and lively market
Aug. 2019
Every Saturday the streets of Ferney-Voltaire turn into a beautiful open-air market. You can find everything from fruit and vegetables to clothes to african masks. Great variety of local cheese as well as spices from all over the world. Polite and friendly sellers. If you find yourself in the area, be sure to make a visit.

I love coming to the market in Ferney. The sellers are so fun and offer you tasters of their food to try and convince you to buy. The best value fruit, nuts and olives around.

Colorful market, catering to the international crowd of UN institutions
Feb. 2019 • Friends
Saturday morning market is a colorful event, The interesting part is the food section catering to the various personnel of more than 100 UN and NGO institutions nearby. Veggies and fruits from all over Africa and Asia can be found, next to organic bread or honey from the nearby mountains and forests. Meats and cheeses from small family owned farms are on sale by their producers. Fresh oysters to be swallowed on the spot are proposed at some seafood stands: Wash them down with a glass of complimentary dry white wine. Cheers !

amazing market
Jun. 2018 • Family
I have been to Geneva three times and on every trip make it a point to come to this market.
The selection of cheese, food, etc is amazing. The atmosphere at the market is really nice and the people are very friendly.I come from malaysia where we use spices in everything, but frankly i have not seen as many spices being sold as i have seen in this place.
Theres a homemade jam seller, whom we have bought jam from many times. We buy his bottles of jams as little gifts for our friends when we return back to Malaysia. So if you are there and looking for gifts thats an idea.
If you are in Geneva and you like browsing thru markets, this is a very nice one.

A Spectacular Morning Market
May 2018 • Business
If you are spending your weekend in Geneva, you must visit the Saturday morning market at Ferney-Voltaire in the French territory of Geneva Metropolitan area. Ferney-Voltaire is just 20 minutes by "F" bus from the Geneva railway station. Ferney was originally registered as "Fernex" during 14th-century. Four hundred years later, French philosopher and writer Voltaire, who lived here from 1759 to 1778, changed the "x" to a "y". Voltair influenced massively to rebuilt a little French village into a hub of arts and industries. They built the local church and founded cottage industries that produced some of the finest potters and eventually a few great watchmakers of modern France. Voltaire lived there for the last 20 years of his life before returning to Paris. After the French Revolution, the town was renamed as "Ferney-Voltaire" in his honour. Today, on of the great attractions of Ferney is its Saturday market. Ferney's Saturday market is one of the most famous weekly markets of Europe. This market is just wonderful with so much choice among the various stands. Fresh fish and seafood, fantastic bread, awesome cheese of different varieties, spices, mushrooms... you just name it.

Good for people living in Geneva
Feb. 2018
It just takes 20 mins from Geneva station by F bus, but the prices in the Ferny Saturday market is much cheaper and fresher than buying in supermarket in Geneva.
You can get any stuffs including vegetables, cheeses, meat, fish and so on but I especially recommend oil shops which is brought by a young couple.
The oil is thick and really nice!

Spectacular traditional market

If you are in the area on a Saturday, do not miss this market. It's geared for locals but the range and quality of produce is really wonderful. Cheeses, meats, fruit and vegetables from all over the region.
