After some deliberation we decided that a guided day on the Somme would be better than touring ourselves. We were very glad that we did. Olivier is an excellent guide and significantly improved our knowledge of the events in the Somme area during WW1. In...More
We spent the day with Olivier, who picked us up outside the Amiens train station. This is a comprehensive and well organised tour. We had plenty of time at each stop although we could have easily spent more time at the Sir John Monash Centre....More
Our family of 9 had an amazing trip around the area of our Grandfather’s involvement and death on the Somme. Olivier both personalised and explained strategy and background so that all felt involved and part of the experience. We would highly recommend his services.
This week we did a one day tour with Olivier. He picked us up from St Quentin at 8:40am after a 75 minute train trip from Paris. He explained so well the course of war and the movement back and forth of the front lines....More
Olivier was an amazing guide who made our day so enjoyable with his knowledge and passion for the area.
Absolutely recommend this tour. Comfortable transport also and easy pick up/drop off from Amiens Station.
Olivier was excellent! His knowledge of the British army's movement from July 1916 to November 1916 was amazing. It was extremely powerful to be at the very places where so many lives were lost and are commemorated. He was able to answer all of our...More
From start to finish, our tour with Olivier was filled with interesting information relating to WW1 and the Somme. He is a fountain of knowledge- he was able to answer nearly all of our questions! If he didn’t know something, he would direct us on...More
As the centenary of the end of the First World War approaches, I wanted to visit the battlefields in France where my grandfather fought exactly 100 years ago. I found Olivier via TripAdvisor and booked a one day tour with him for my wife and...More
Olivier was an excellent and knowledgable guide who made the story of the Somme come to life. He referenced the current landscape to a 1916 map , which gave us a clear insight into trench warfare.
The day was fascinating and very moving .
This tour met, often exceeded our expectations. We were looking for a competent and knowledgable guide to give us the "highlights" - we had but one day to dedicate to this aspect of our vacation. Olivier Dirson was a reliable, competent and friendly guide who...More
i would definitely email Olivier any information you have and ask him the question, we found him extremely helpful and assisted us, he is busy doing preparations for the 100th annvetsary currently, good luck
