Nice archeological museum, situated in the outskirts of Paris, but easily accessible with RER A. The museum is in a great historic setting, the building being a former royal palace. There are extensive information panels (though most in French only) and exhibits from prehistory to...More

This museum really impressed me. There were two displays that made history more clear to me than any textbook or teacher ever has: 1) In the Piette room all the major prehistoric societies were compared on the basis of technological development. Wow - what an...More

This is a good alternative to avoiding queues at Versailles - the park is beautiful and the old town centre of Saint Germain is delightful.

We visited the Chateau on a rainy day. It has antiquities from the Stone Age, iron and bronze ages. It was quite interesting. Note that the descriptions are all in French but pretty easy to figure out, especially if you speak a little French or...More

The chateau has a great museum that contains artefacts from around the globe, mostly Stone Age through to medieval and a well stocked gift shop. The gardens are well tended and extensive and offer a magnificent view towards Paris and the Seine.
