Nobody really knows what was the purpose of this lantern. The name is misleading as it has nothing to do with deaths. While you wonder, look up to this unusual place.

We found this by accident and loved it. The acoustics inside are incredible, we were so lucky to be there at the same time as a young girl just starting her signing career.
the tower in itself is surprising and nobody knows exactly what was its use in the ceremonies !! It's located above the "enfeus" which are a beautiful place behind the cthedral.
This was a big disappointment. fortunately it wasn't a big hike to get to. The church in front of it was much more interesting. Sarlat Village is well worth a trip
I have never seen something similar, it is special but not really spectacular. Depending on your luck, you may have someone who occupies the place and tries to offer some music inside. It is not necessarily good though.
An unusual bullet like structure, indicating the presence of a cemetery. Definitely worth a quick visit. A piece of architecture in its own right.
Suggest to read up a little of the history of the Lanterne des Morts before visiting. Easy to find on the Cathedral grounds.
