The best sight of the bay and dune is from the sea. You can book a trip by boat all around de bay. It is great.

Super place - we went to several beaches (mostly further out towards the ocean) but all were lovely. Super cycling paths all along the coast so we left the car parked for most of the week. Sailed the bay (TipTOP 2) which was great, climbed...More

Took a boat tour that circumnaigates the Ile des Oiseaux. We stopped at Cap Ferret on the way and saw Dune of Pilat from a distance. toour fgiven in French only. Helps explain the history and the oyster industry in the bassin.

There are so many restaurants with a bay view. I enjoy the 1.25 hr boat ride that gives you a taste of the towns around the bassin. You can also see the Dune de Pyla. Only do boat on a day that is not rainy...More

Coming off the Bay of Biscay, it is hard to believe this huge basin exists. Has to be the oyster growing capital of the world. One can see the "fields" every where. Both the Arcachon side and Cap Ferret appear to be good for swimming....More
