This place mainly popular due to unfinished Buddha statue. Dates back more than 2000 years. Some says even more. Easy access as it's situate beside Badulla - Colombo main road. Free to enter. 1 hour may require.

This is a steep climb to the top. It is 2000 years old and the art work inside is glorious. Be carful of the gang of monkeys that still bottles and food on the way up.

This Dowa Temple is believed to be constructed by King Walagamba, when he was hiding from invaders. There is a huge statue of Lord Buddha, craved on a base rock. Also, there is a tunnel connecting here and Bogoda Wooden Bridge.

It is believed that the temple bears a history dating back to about 2,000 years. Historically, the Dhowa temple was known as the Kumbaltissa Ariyagala Vehera, named after its chief priest who had provided sanctuary for King Walagamba, who turned the cave into a temple. Work at the temple was not completed during the reign of King Walagamba, but was fully completed during the Kandyan Kingdom.

The temple was built in 110 BC by a srilankan king which is still in good shape.The main shirin room is curved in a solid rock which is next to a river where you will have a very decent mind set
