Focal point of the piazza

Not really much to see inside unless you climb to the top of yhe tower. There you have a beautiful 360 degree view of Volterra and the surrounding countryside.

Visited as part of a ticket that you can buy for all Volterra's museums. It is relatively a small building but is beautifully preserved . The guide who checks the tickets was very informative about the different parts such as the ceiling and flags. He explained about a ceremony we had seen the day before where different neighbourhoods competed in... More

This is a medieval square well restored where you can walk around at your own leisure and relax. It gives you a taste of the old days.

There is a nice gothic chamber where people like to get married. You can climb the tower for a good view over volterra. Apart from that there is not much that is memorable.

One of our favorite stops in Tuscany! We stayed one night in Volterra so had the opportunity to spend part of the afternoon and evening in the square. The Palazzo is a beautiful Town Hall and there are several great eating spots nearby right in the square and shops too! The Palazzo boasts several colorful coats of arms on the... More

The only thing that makes this place special is a view on the surroundings from the top of a tower. And it is really nice one. On the other hand You will pay 5 euro to see the walls, as there is almost nothing inside. They should make exposition bigger, as at the moment it is more like a bookshop.

Historic hill town in Tuscany definitely worth a visit if you like history and architecture. The piazza was breathtakingit is very old and is surrounded by beautiful buildings with cafe's and shops too. The town itself is like going back in time but is not touristy it's the real thing.

The Priori palace with built well before the PlazzoVeccio in Florence. It has all the great rooms and great historic oil paintings and a great tower.

The town of Volterra is a nice, typical medieval, Tuscan town. We visited twice during our stay and found it to be pleasant, if not a little touristy. San Gimignano, it is not, but the square itself is quite enchanting. Food nearby was of high quality and not stupidly expensive. It's worth a couple of hours here.
