We were married in this, the oldest town hall in Tuscany, in June 2012. Hopefully the pictures speak for themselves :o) we were both so happy with the ceremony, officiant and the whole ease of planning the wedding.

For a couple of euros we saw some historical exhibition rooms and climbed the tower, from which there were some fantastic views over the town and the surrounds, made better by the sunny weather at the time. Thoroughly recommend the climb - quite easy provided you have reasonable mobility.

The Palazzo is worth a visit, it is nice as you would expect but not something I would not make special trip for. But Volterra is a picturesque town worth exploring and this is one off the main attractions here.
At the ticket desk you are invited to reward yourself to a 'bonus of climbing La Torre - the Bell tower. Extra 3 euro. If you are reasonably fit or just determined as we were, go for it.
The Bell Tower of the Palazzo dei Priori is one of the highest points of Volterra.
Of course you get great views of the city below, but also much further to the Tyrrhenian Sea and Apuan Alps. The tower was rebuilt after it was destroyed in the earthquake.
Our legs burned a little, but we are pretty experienced 'tower climbers' and this climb was relatively easy in comparison.
We climbed Towers in Prague, Siena, Florence, Venice just to name a few. And most recently on this trip in a wonderful town of Sirmioni.
We prefer climbing to spending our valuable travel time in the hotel's gym:)
We enjoyed this charming town and later on rewarded ourself with some less strenuous activities of sightseeing, fine dining and of course gelato....

This medieval building is the earliest surviving Town Hall in Tuscany is has an unusual 5 sides tower and great views from the top floor. he Council room was redecorated by the Florentines when they sacked and occupied the city in the renaissance.

This historic building still serves as the city hall of Voltera. The city hall meeting chamber is still decorated with beautifil ceiling paintings and artwork. It costs to enter tye museum, but it allows you to climb the bell tower for a magnificent view of Voltera and the surrounding countryside. We spent about 45 minutes exploring the exhibits and enjoyed our time there.

We purchased the Volterra Pass for 16 euro each which included the Palazzo dei Priori, the Etruscan museum, the Pinacoteca, the Alabaster Ecomuseum (Volterra is known for alabaster works of art) and the Acropolis and Roman Theater.
We visited the 13th century Palazzo dei Priori. When we got to the top floor, the guard showed us the door to the tower. It was a beautiful sunny day and the view was magnificent. There was a wonderful view of the rooftops of Volterra as well as the Roman theater. Volterra is a picturesque, old town and is well worth a visit.

Nice piazza with 2-3 places to sit and sip a glass of Super Tuscan, or have a meal. Great at night. Be sure to try and spot the tower with the little pig way up high.

We got married at the fabulous Palazzo dei Priori on 4 July 2014. It all started with me falling in love with a picture of the ceremony room online - further research only paved the way to more perfection and from there it was a short step to convincing my fiancé and family that an Italian wedding was the way forward! Luckily they agreed and my dream came true.
The Palazzo is one of the oldest civil buildings in Tuscany and it does not disappoint. Impressive from the outside and set in a lovely square, it is a majestic centre point of the charming town of Volterra.
With the help of my wedding planner (Annie Adair of Tuscan Tours - highly recommended) we booked the hall and arranged everything without much hassle. The paperwork requirements changed this year so they were really keen to make sure all was in order. We had to visit a few days before the wedding to sign a couple of bits but again, with Annie's help, no problem.
Gianni the celebrant was new to the role - we were his first wedding! But he did a fabulous job and even gave us a present from the city after the ceremony.
There isn't a sound system to use so if you're bringing music, you need something to play it on. You can also arrange a permit to drive into the town during normally prohibited hours (polizia municipale deal with this but Annie helped out once again). Confetti is allowed outside but biodegradable or petals should be used out of respect for the town. We used lavender.
Volterra and it's amazing places and people will stay with us forever - thanks for making our wedding so special.

We were just driving around Tuscany when we happened upon Volterra--a gem hidden in the hills of Tuscany. The medieval town is easy to walk around and meanders through side streets filled with shops of all types. We throughly enjoyed our brief stay in the town and also discovered a state prison near one of the entrances. When I walked in accidently with a large camera I was given that look most of know that communicated "what are you doing in here?" We actually found a free two hour parking area on the side closest to Osteria La Pace bar/restaurant.

My little family stumbled upon this fun experience. It was fun to see the actual town hall that is still used today and then to get to climb to the top of the tower to were the actual bell is was the icing on the cake! The tickets were 3,50 euro per adult, kids were free. The kids enjoyed seeing the bells that we have been hearing all the time! Fun day, different from all the churches and museums we have been seeing.

I just read a very useful review about a wedding at Palazzo dei Priori, Volterra from jomeetsworld and am booking my wedding there next year. Though we have a wedding planner the view was so helpful and I wanted to know more about what type or wedding music can be played there e.g - is 'here comes the bride' apt for an Italian wedding, did you just simply take your ipod and docking station along with you?

Ciao per entrare al palazzo si va al 2 piano fai il biglietto e poi si sale fino al 6 piano con l'ascensore all'interno mostra fotografica e plastico
Poi 2 piani da fare scale per arrivare in cima alla torre
Dove c'è un panorama stupendo
