- Yas46Adliswil, Switzerland966 contributionsLovely gardens and a great walk with views. We had a lovely couple of hours walking around the gardens here. The paths are beautifully made out of curving cobblestones. The map shows you with large number in the park which route to go on but you can always revisit parts again. We have been in September and October and both times were stunning- would love to go again in the Sporing to see the difference in flowers.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 September 2023
- lovemyholidays600Cambridge, United Kingdom234 contributionsWonderful gardens in fabulous condition. Views are stunningWe stayed in Stresa and took the ferry to the gardens (45 mins). Magnificent flowers in the garden for September ( particularly the Dahlias). Beautifully kept and was surprised how big the gardens were - took us 90 mins to walk around . Some of the views are spectacular with the mountains in the background. Lovely cafe half way round for drinks/snacks. Excellent value for money - well worth a visit.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 September 2023
- LynetteLancaster District, United Kingdom92 contributionsA plant lovers heavenBeautiful restful place, mostly an arboretum with some other nice plantings. Several large ponds with gorgeous water lilies. Best spot for us was the area near the cafeteria in the centre of the garden. Plants mostly labelled. Quite a lot of walking involved but good paths.Visited September 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 24 September 2023
- lowkey_11London, United Kingdom28 contributionsHighly recommended garden and estate.Splendid gardens, beautifully laid-out and maintained, set in a great location. When we visited we saw a spectacular display of dahlias and some fine mature trees and shrubs. We arrived by ferry at the Villa’s dock and walked back to Pallanza along the attractive lakeside road. The Villa also has a large cafe/restaurant with friendly staff. A couple of guidebooks describe the gardens as “underwhelming”. Not if you appreciate gardens.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 October 2023
- john wLondon, United Kingdom36 contributionsA visit here is an absolute must! Our entry was delayed by an hour due to thunder and rain for our safety. This was ok but we did not hear any announcements for anyone already in the gardens to leave or take shelter. The lady at the ticket boot was very friendly and the gardens were an absolute delight.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 May 2024

In the 1930s a Scotsman by the name Captain Neil Mc Eacharn transformed 16 hectares of land into one of the most beautiful gardens in the world today. The azaleas and rhododendrons were in bloom in May - gorgeous !Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 June 2024
- Štěpán ŠLiberec, Czech Republic16 contributionsNice garden hideoutIt was the best hideout from the hot Italian summer weather. Even though the entrance may seem costly it is definitely worth it. My family stayed there for a good 2-3 hours and had a lovely time. The gardens are well maintained and are such an architectonic wonder. Don’t be afraid to really explore the gardens as there are many hidden hideouts.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 3 July 2024

Excellent gardens, laid out in a very traditional way.
If you are used to "modern" garden design (say at RHS gardens in England), you'll find this garden a bit old fashioned. Plants/shrubs tend to be in big groups, which to us seemed slight wrong.
Nothwithstanding this, the garden is perfectly maintained, and the formal borders look stunning.
It's a big area, with some steep slopes, so allow at least 2 hours if you want to see it all.
Nice ice cream !!

Beautifully landscaped gardens. There were plenty of flowers in bloom. It was very hot on the day we visited. Fortunately, there were enough places where you could sit and hide from direct sunlight and enjoy the views. We missed a cafeteria on site where you could stop for water, a drink and a small snack. The cafe just outside the entrance did not impress us because of its slow service.

Absolutely wonderful place! One of the best locations I have ever been to, to just sit and have a coffee (whilst looking out across the beautiful water ponds and gardens. Although, Italian coffees are served in tiny cups could have sat there all afternoon with a Costa grande latte!) Coffee aside, the staff at Taranto indeed throughout our stay at Lake Maggiore were all very professional and a pleasure to deal with.

Dear Friends, Is there a parking when visiting Villa Taranto? If there is a parking is it free?
Written 1 June 2017
Limited parking, boat is a good option, we took an electric scooter, it will take some time with a manual wheelchair, some slopes are steep but plenty to see on level.
