Such a beautiful and we'll situated Duomo. The affreschi are delightful, the letter from San Francesco is charming and to see this cathedral illuminated at night from outside is a special experience. The Open Art gallery of local artist Impero Panella just down the road is wonderful also.

The Duomo also known as Cattedrale of Santa Maria Assunta is the symbol of Spoleto and the original construction dates back to the XII Century. There is an impressive staircase leading to the Duomo from via Saffi. The best time of the day to take pictures of the facade is at sunset. The interior is very rich with several important... More

Amazing attraction. One of the most beautiful in umbria. Combined with the piazza is one of the most attractive places in this region.

One of the most beautiful in Umbria. Located half way up the hill and framed by the old city. Spoleto is a magical place.

Somewhat a mishmash of architecture from various periods, but still it contains a few real jewels inside and the facade and tower are very impressive

This ancient cathedral was the venue chosen by my nephew and his bride for their wedding. It was a fairy tale setting. What impressed me about this mediaeval city was the impressive subterranean travelator that takes you from the big multi-storey car park at the low end of the city right up to the castle at the top! It must... More

This is quite simply the most beautiful tranquil building I have ever been to. Wanted to go for years and I wasn't disappointed. Bought a meal in the piazza just so's I could sit and stare at the cathedral.

Both the Duomo and the piazza are worth the time and the climb. As I found to so often be true in Italy, one says to oneself, another Duomo! but it soon shows its unique and lovely features. Here the main attraction is the great fresco "Life of the Virgin" (Fra Lippo Lippi, for you Browning readers), but the beauties... More

The Piazza in front of the Duomo at Spoleto is on a very impressive scale, designed to lead towards the entry to the Duomo. It gives the impression one is approaching something very special, and that is the case!
