Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stop in look around enjoy the beauty of your surroundings. Plenty of art work to appreciate and take pictures of. The floor is definitely old and worn but the patterns that were created are wonderful

I'm on the fence as to whether this was my favorite duomo during my visit to Italy. I saw others that were larger or more magnificent in Rome and Florence, that had Bernini sculptures or the dome of St. Peter. But all those had sooooooo many people, that it was difficult to get the feeling of something sacred with all the noise (even after people were often told to please be silent). I think this duomo's quiet dignity helps it to inspire. If you go, make sure you go to the front just in front of the fresco. It is a bit humbling to stand so close and look up so far.

The duomo, built in the 12th century, is one of the most suburb examples of Umbrian Romanesque I have every seen. It houses magnificent works of art in the Baroque style. Each spring for 17 days the world-renounced music festival hosts, opera, theatre, dance, symphony, and choral performances.

Spoleto's Romanesque-era Cathedral, dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, has a majestic presence which dominates the Piazza del Duomo. Inside you will find many treasures including the Cosmatesque floor, decorative mosaics and beautifully depicted frescoes such as the one in the apse with scenes from the life of the Virgin Mary. Be sure to visit the many chapels and admire the various works of art.

Spoleto is my vote for hidden gem in Italy! It is a most beautiful little town in Umbria with the delicious smell of truffles everywhere, wonderrful Shopping and several churches, Of which the Duomo which stands out… Less than two hours from Rome this is an amazing place to spend some time and walk the steep hills!

A beautiful cathedral with has managed to stay serene despite its many visitors. The highlights are undoubtedly the frescoes by Fillipo Lippi with their amazing colours and figures, but the church is a wonderful mixture of styles from different ages with mosaics and an icon as well as the frescoes. The approach down from the town into the Cathedral square is wonderful.

Only managed to view from the outside but this is a spectacular building and by far one of the best I have seen in the whole of Italy. The approach from the steps is magnificent. I only wish I had been able to see inside. The setting and location is beautiful.

The city’s cathedral built in the 12th century, is the most important building of Spoleto. It was extensively modified in the Renaissance style at the turn of the 16th century with the addition of a portico and its interior was remodeled in the 17th century. The most notable feature of the facade is the great Byzantine style mosaic “Christ giving a Benediction”, while the interior holds the paintings of Filippo Lippi, frescoes by Pinturicchio and other notable works of art. It is a beautiful complex and the first thing to see during the visit to the city.

This is an amazing church with the most beautiful Filippo Lippi Fresco . It is stunningly beautiful and something to admire the artist for . It took him four years to paint the fresco . The splendour of this city is enhanced by this not to be missed church.

Beautiful and charming piazza. The sun was making the gold on the facade shine and it was a spectacle to see. quite beautiful in the evening lights, too.
