Perhaps it's unfair to rate a place that is closed, but I thought it was important for TripAdvisor's rankings to better reflect that this is not currently a "top pick" for what to see in Spoleto since you can't enter. The cemetery outside the church...More

We have been fortunate in the past to be able to fully wander around inside Basilica di San Salvatore but this April when we visited only a peek inside was allowed. Due to earthquakes in the region in recent years there is some structural damage,...More

Usually, if any UNESCO site exists in the city, tourists will know about it immediately at the station. The signs will show us how to get to this attraction. Everything is different in Spoleto. We'd realize about it, if we don't read about it before....More

We took the walk up to Basilica di San Salvatore and walked the grounds. It is a beautiful structure. It is the oldest church in Spoleto. The doors and windows are very ornate and historic.

The Basilica di San Salvatore, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a humbling and awe-inspiring work of art, a quiet and reverential structure that holds within it a sense of what the earliest Christian sanctuaries were like. There are here Roman temple architectural influences and...More

A bit difficult to access outside Spoleto and hidden behind the cemetary lies this nice church with an interesting combination of architectural styles. The view of Spoleto and the fortress is very nice from the adjacent olive plantageon.

The Basilica of San Salvatore is just a 6-minute walk from the bottom of the set of escalators that lead down from Spoleto's Duomo and Ponzianina areas. Considered to be one of Italy's oldest churches, it was built using Roman salvaged remains. This is apparent...More
