From the new port to the east of Riva del Garda a series of stone steps ascend past an ochre coloured building and quickly you are high above the lake with stunning views. On the early part of the ascent keep to the pathway with the wooden steps. These are set into the hillside and can be challenging to climb... More

We walked up Monte Brione, spending aprox 2 hours before wandering back downwards. The views were spectacular and the old forts interesting

My daughter and I climbed to the top one afternoon. We don't do much climbing/hiking, lol, but found it relatively easy with lots of steps most of the way up. The views are amazing over Torbole and we enjoyed the birds eye view of the windsurfers... There were hundreds of them! On the way up there are a few spots... More

A hot walk on a summer's day! Lots of wooden steps to climb.Lovely views on the way up and at the top. Make sure you pay a visit to the fort and come back down on the roadway. It is a much easier descent.

Staying at riva we walked to forte saint Nicole where we started our walk up mount Brione. We chose to climb through woodland up the numerous steps to the top, and were rewarded with stunning vistas along the way. Some degree of fitness is required, although you can choose to go the Tarmac path of peace which has numerous information... More

Nice short walk at the small pancake mountain between Riva and Torbole. At the top is an old fort, which is nice

A fascinating short climb revealing World War One defence positions, barracks and fortifications. Some good views over the lake, too. There is a marked path (that probably gets slippy and muddy in the rain but is pleasant in good weather. Only takes half a day max.

Unique views overlooking Torbole & Riva Del Garda. The mountains surrounding Lake Garda look fabulous! Olive groves looked nice along the walk. Certainly worth the climb for breathtaking views.

This was our first walk on our holiday to Riva. We started on the west side of Monte Brione from Sant'Alessandro. it's not well sign-posted from that side but we made our way to the top fort nonetheless. There are two more forts - each more complete. The lowest fort is the most complete and was open at the time... More
