Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The hotel is located in a beautiful position high up on the beautiful beach of Chiaia di Luna, however not accessible except by boats, a sore point to be blamed on the municipality of Ponza.
Our standard room was nice and large and clean, with air conditioning. Excellent breakfast.
The dirty swimming pool and the areas surrounding it, the floors, were in our opinion outdated and not very clean. The external areas and the reception would need more care and renovation.
Due to bad weather we had to leave a day early.
The hotel management did not help us in the slightest with any gesture of courtesy, such as a coffee or juice at the bar offered for the inconvenience, due to a paid night and a paid breakfast that we did not use due to the early departure. They simply accepted everything coldly, with a few vague words of circumstance.
We expected them to partially meet the customer with more courtesy, which I requested verbally, even if only symbolically. But nothing from them.
I strongly advise against this hotel, which is also very expensive, because it can often happen that you don't leave Ponza due to bad weather, and you have to leave the day before. Customer care and a few small gestures on the part of the hotel would have canceled out our current displeasure. Best regards.

what a rip off. 15 euros each for a compari spritz which was watered down and tasteless. No snack with drinks as other restaurants provide. 15 euros for a small pizza which i would not serve to my dog. tourist trap. a place to take selfies. that’s all i saw. no one was talking to each other. lol. yes, you pay to see the sunset but i’m sure there are other better spots to find for free. never again!

We had booked 2 nights at the end of August, but unfortunately due to the bad weather we had asked for the possibility of rescheduling at least 1 night for another period. We didn't have a minimum opening time other than taking the ferry and not the hydrofoil (whose trips were canceled due to the bad weather)... I won't go into further detail: having booked from Booking.com they kept the money collected immediately when booking WITHOUT a minimum opening time. However, we see that this was also a behavior adopted with other customers. Therefore the structure certainly cannot be recommended, because it lacks attention to the customer, even if only in seeking alternative solutions without particular sacrifices!

Hotel in a panoramic position with swimming pool 10/15 minutes walk from the port. This is already the third time we've been back.
The rooms have fairly classic furnishings and both the bedrooms and the bathrooms are a bit small, there is no possibility of hanging out bathing suits or towels in the sun for example (a bit inconvenient if you have to stay for a few days) and our room was in a really transit position so we couldn't keep either the bathroom or bedroom window open since we could see everything from the outside.
In our opinion the prices are a little high compared to the type of rooms both in terms of furnishings (very classic and not renovated) and in terms of the location of the room (without sea view without the possibility of hanging out bathing suits and towels). The wifi does not work in the rooms.
The breakfast is excellent with a sweet and savory choice with yogurt and pancakes, the croissants as well as the white caprese are really very good

There's no access to the beach as shown in the promo material.
Hotel is very tired and overpriced. Staff is straight out of Fawlty Towers. There's an onsite bar/club which makes sleep impossible before midnight. Rooms are tiny.

Very kind staff. Food was a mixed experience. First course was quit good but the frittura octopus was quite soft (had a strange consistency) and too salty. Also the meal was pricy. (140 euro for first and second and a bottle of prosecco and a single dessert. 2 people). Beautiful view though !

We arrived at the hotel BEFORE checkin on a Sunday afternoon of July 2, 2017 around 130 pm and they were kind enough to put us in a room-but right next to their night club. We immediately reminded them that we had our 7 year old with us, asked for a room away from the club, and-instead of putting us in another room-they told us not to worry because the club would not be open during our stay. So we set our expectations for a quiet evening, walked around town, had dinner, then came back to the music vibrating throughout our room. When we objected we were told by the front desk person that there were no other options and that she was very sorry but not to worry because it would end at midnight. She also informed us that the owner had just been in the room listening to us but had walked out. My objection is that management mindlessly put a 7 year old next to the club, tried to cover up the mistake with a lie, then unprofessionally tried to wish the problem away.
Bottom line: I would not return to this hotel until the management and owner proved that they took a course in hospitality 101. And by that time I would rather just stay at a place with no 1 star reviews so as not to be a victim of their mediocrity again.

Anybody who has any knowledge of Ponza island, knows that this island is best visited by boat, which is why so many are anchored around the island and so many are available on hire.

That said, the Chiaia di Luna beach has been closed for quite a number of years now for people's safety - too high risk of land slides.

Ponza's "Half Moon Bay" beach remains one of the earth's most breath taking views and the Chiaia di Luna Hotel, poised just above it, still offers this wonderous views to its guests.

The staff and the service at this hotel are top notch and the restaurant is absolutely one of the island's best.

Chiaia di Luna Hotel offers all the services of a 4 Star hotel, even if perhaps the rooms do not exactly exude Dubai style luxery.

Ponza is special because it is still a bit beautifly laid-back - "more" would actually spoli the charm and quiet elegance of the Chiaia di Luna Hotel.

A great and highly recommended place to stay when in Ponza. The Restaurant a must, with truly high level island cuisine.

Let's start with the fact that the location(excellent ) was the only thing that I liked about this hotel. My expectations were high,as you would think when you book a 4 star hotel...
+Hotel room was clean, but it had that oooold feel, but don't expect any luxury here.
- There is no way you can get to the beach, even though the beach is literally right there(you would have to take a boat and you cannot swim or enjoy that beach because it's closed for God knows how long apparently)That's why we decided to hang by the pool for the rest of our vacation..Where do I begin here? The launch chairs(the worst I've ever seen and used)Side tables, umbrellas and towels are sooooo old, that I felt like I've travelled in time!!!!!
-the pool was like an ice cube (I understand it's August, and it's hot...but really???)
-on-site bar and restaurant.Atmosphere was great, but not food and drinks or service.
The total experience was too far from relaxing and enjoyable, would not come back there even if my stay was free.
Please,it's time to renovate this place. And what a shame to charge a fortune for a hotel where all you get is stress...ugggh

Luna Beach is the perfect place for a romantic sunset. Unfortunately the beach is closed due to falling rocks, so you cannot climb down to the beach, but it’s just as beautiful from the top. Next time we will go by sailing boat and ancor in the bay.
