We did a tour at the temples of Paestum with Mario. He is so passionate about his job. He tells lots of back ground stories, explaining mythology .. The tour lasted 2 hours but we could have spend all day with him. He made this beautiful ancient place coming to life. Best guide we’ve ever had!

A very short (one stop) ride on the train from Agropoli. The train costs 4 euros 80 cents per person round trip. Free restroom in Agropoli but they charge 1 euro for the restroom in Paestum. Free restroom at the Museum in Paestum BEFORE you pay to enter. Just go down the stairs to the left as you enter the museum before the ticket office. I was told by an Architect many years ago that Paestum had better Greek Architecture than many places in Greece and that it was easier to reach. Don't know if that is true but this place was amazing. You can see the buildings without going in but it is quite the experience to walk in and see them up close. Went during the week in March and there was hardly anyone there.

After staying in Positano, we decided to do a day trip with driver to see Paestum, and then a Mozarella farm. Paestum was beautiful and manageable for a few hours. I maybe liked it more then Pompeii, which can seem overwhelming in size. i really was mostly wanting to see the three temples, and they are grand. The rest of the grounds were so so after seeing many ruins on a trip. The museum inside was pretty lackluster and maybe 30 minutes for us. Worst bathrooms on our whole trip. The doors didn't lock in the mens stalls which was insane. And for the amount of tourists, can't handle the people. All in all it is pretty, but really far from the Amalfi Coast. About 1:45 hour each way. If you only have 1 or 2 days and this would be a full day, I'd probably skip it. Depends on your timing.

Really liked this place, we missed the train to Naples due to a delay getting to Salerno and decided to go here instead Got off at Paestrum station then a short straight walk to the site. No queues to get tickets from the museum The site is large with some very interesting temples, that you can get close up to The museum was good too.

Amazing amazing amazing! We came here just to see this archaeological site and it was truly jaw dropping. I have never met anyone who has been here and yet it is probably more incredible than Pompeii, just in terms of its size! Cheap to get in ( 15 euros each and hardly anyone there in mid August) and there is a brilliant museum across the street.
