Wen you reach Orvieto by train, buy your ticket to the cable car (funicolare) at the station, valid for the local bus as well.
This cable car is overloaded, crowded, no AC. Tourists kills each others for the good view - of nothing.
Definitely recommend using cable car instead of bus. It got us quickly to the top and the view up and down was spectacular. The ride back and for is fairly in-expensive. The cars felt safe and were very clean.
