Thought it could be a real tourist trap when visiting the enoteca, free guided tour and wine tasting for free. But surprisingly it was really good! But of course they expect that you buy something before leaving. The underground tour was interesting and the history...More

Another wine tasting this time Ercolani in Montepulciano, but this visit much more interesting, as you are taken below ground level to see cellars/rooms /tomb together with a narrative explaining all. After which we surfaced to ground level to enjoy tasting meats & cheeses with...More

While visiting Montepulciano we stopped in the middle of the old part of the city to tour the Ercolani Winery and produce store as well as the underground city--primarily because we were lured in by a barker outside the shop. I thought we'd just go...More

We thoroughly enjoyed our private wine tour by our knowledgable guide who taught us a lot about wine. We also enjoyed lots of wine tasting afterwards accompanied by bread and olive oil with truffles and pecorino cheese. Got a bit tipsy and enjoyed myself thoroughly.

There's a free tour where you can roam their underground cellars and tunnels (which is fascinating enough) and then free wine, cheese and salami tastings. There's no pressure to buy - the tour is great and the wine and food are excellent. A very worthwhile...More
