This is really a cable car that takes you up the side of the mountain to Montecatini Alto. It was a scenic trip up through the mountainside. I think round trip was 7 Euros per person. it leaves about every 20 or 30 minutes. Great ride. My wife and I thought it was very romantic. We enjoyed it both ways.

If running, it's the best and the most spectacular way to get to Montecatini Alto. It's worth travelling on the platform (outside of the cabins) for a perfect experience.

On short notice, I decided to try the funiculare on the last day at Montecatini. It was a 15 minute walk from my hotel, Francia e Quarinale. There was no line at the ticket office, and the return ticket was only 7 Euros. At the time, about 5pm Saturday, only a dozen or so boarded the car. People seemed to... More

We visited the Funicolare by train and it took us about 15/20 mins to walk to the site. Lovely bar at the bottom of the Funicolare for coffee and the trip is simply amazing both ways. Great selection of restaurants and cafes at top in the Alto and well worth the trip. We walked into Montecatini on our way back... More

Excellent way of having a panorama of the area. The church and clock tower are well worth a visit. A must see.

We loved our trip up to Montecatini Alto, it cost €7 each for a return trip and there were trips going up/coming down every half an hour.

Well worth the walk through the park. Beautiful gentle climb up to Montecatini Alto. Services runs every 30 minutes with the last ride down at midnight.

The Funiculare re-opened on 1st April and we travelled on it on the following day. We had read about this great attraction which dates back to Victorian times, but happily the contols are now digital but the carriages themselves are old and quaint. The station is a good ten minute walk from the town centre of Montecatine Terme even for... More

We went up by the Funicolare and enjoyed the ride, the views and our visit to Montecatini Alto. We had planned to walk down but then decided to take the tram again. Downwards just as nice as upwards. Try to ride on the balcony instead of inside the train. Upper and lower balcony are both offering great views and a... More
