It's a strange feeling to hop on a boat in Sicily, traverse a shallow lagoon and enter a key outpost of the ancient Phoenicians, founded in the 8th century BC; but such is the ferment that was and is this region that trips like this...More

When we arrived on the little island we opted first to see the area around the museum and then walk down toward the Tophet burial ground and the very sacred pond area near the shore. We were fascinated by a site that was more ancient...More

Fascinating place, with archeological remains back to Phoenician times and a stunning setting just off the Trapani salt pans. A popular excursion for locals, probably best enjoyed with a good guidebook or a well-informed guide to bring the history alive.

Nice trip on the boat for 4 euro but then 9 euro/pp on the other side to enter the island is a little naughty. Also seen much bigger more imoressive museums for half the price.

We went late in the day and took the ferry to Mozia. We walked around the island and visited the museum. It was beautiful.

you do not expect too much. And you should know that the entreance fee on the island is 9 Euro per person. Nobody will tell you, when you pay the 10-Euro-fee for the ferry. No shadow to expect,. just a couple of stones. The museum...More
