This is a very well conserved historical roman amphitheater in Lecce. In the middle of the main square. Very well iluminarse and with tons of history. An attraction itself that you must see. Do not miss it.

This nice Theatre is right in the middle of lovely Lecce. It was a quiet day when we visited (Sunday in August). But it was still surprising how few tourists were in town....and almost none a the Amphiteatre. Because it is actually quite a beauty,...More
This could be one of the best examples of Roman history and architecture. It's located right in the center of the main piazza of the old section of town. Incredible! It's in such remarkable condition you can visualize a gladiator entering the arena.
Only part of the amphitheater has been excavated. It doesn't have the appeal or views that most of the other Roman theaters had; it is now off to the side of a busy square.
Hadn't seen an amphitheatre like this before. While you can only see half (free viewing) you get a great feel for what it is like. It's a pity you are unable to get inside it.

Lecce old town central has a very cool ancient Roman arena in good condition. It's a. Enter piece of the central square with shops and eateries surrounding it. It's often used as a modern day location for performances.
There must be a lot of remains left onder the surface of current Lecce. This is probably of the the biggest left from the romain period.
