I found it by mistake just heading to the train station. It was a ceremony inside and i did not want to disturb. It is very beautiful church! You should really see it. Because of the ceremony, there were a lot of flower decorations, making...More

Sadly, the lunchtime closures stymied me on this and several other churches during our short day trip to Lecce. The unusual bottle-shaped church is apparently one of the best Baroque interiors in Lecce. I was sad to miss out on that. The façade, facing piazetta...More

Originally gothic dating from 14th century was then "redecorated", like so much of Lecce, to the far more elaborate baroque style in the mid 18th century. Interior dominated by stucco work in side chapels & ceiling.

A beautiful charch in style barocco luccese. Insight interesting candlestick in form of angels. It was designed by famous architector Giuseppe Zimbalo but the facade was never completed.

The highlights of this church are the statues, not stone or wood, but papier mache. It is interesting but needs some restoration.

This is another baroque church in Lecce and is note worthy because of its paper mache ceiling that dates back to 600.

Construction of this church started in 15th century but it was finished at the end of 17th century. Located on a small square, the nice facade is inviting you inside. There you will find another example of Lecce baroque style - richly decorated with animated...More
