Apparently very beautiful but it was closed. It does not open the entire year, in December it is closed almost all the time, very bad, as it took us some time to find it, the location is hidden.

Quit difficult to find and not really suitable for young children. However it is an excellent example of a Roman cistern, whilst not as large as that in Istanbul, it I'd definitely well preserved and presented. English translation would have been helpful.

We wondered the back streets of Formia from the train station we walked down hill turned right under the bridge and up to a small piazza and tower on the left. About 10 mins. This place is amazing. From the street, just a closed entrance. We googled opening hours, weekends, 5-30 to 8-00pm. Buy tickets from the building,on the right, while facing the entrance. Our guide took us down the stairs, into an amazing place where water was stored, then taken by aqueduct down the mountain to the town, it is beautiful, like an... More
