If you enjoy photography, you will enjoy walking along the historic Via delle Volte - an ancient cobblestone lane which crosses under a number of covered walkways. Beware of the cobblestones - the street is uneven and will penalize the inattentive.

Via della volte is a small old town street in beautiful Ferrara. The arches covering the via make street look authentic. The street if photogenic at night when the lights are on. It is worthwhile to walk through the street since a few very nice...More

This area probably gives a greater insight to life in old Ferrara than many of the more glamorous areas. It is very worthwhile taking a slow walk through to absorb the atmosphere and to think back in time and what this area may have seen.

This is a historic little street with a stone pebble surface which makes it very hard to walk on if you have foot problems or are not wearing walking shoes. Buildings need much restoration as does most of Ferrra s historic centre. It leads to...More

I agree with some reviews that this is not a architecturally stunning place, but anyway, in spite of being quite unpretentious, the area is full of local flavour and historic interest. Instead of having any outstanding building or element, it´s the whole itself -archs, alley,...More

I had no idea this street was a tourist attraction of any sort. Just liked the view and took a picture. There are other spots like this one in the area

Takes you back in time. I met friendly people on my wandering as was invited into a graduation party... Well worth the journey. Ferrara is a beautiful medieval city well worth a visit.

Highly atmospheric. This shaded, narrow, medieval street, with its vaulted buildings over-arching the cobbled thoroughfare has retained the character of the era in which it was constructed. Between the wars, it was the city's red light district. But it now boasts only houses, and a...More

Loved the Via delle Volte for it's apparently unchanged appearance. Quiet and cool to walk down when we visited. Gives a real feel of times gone by.

Interesting getting away from busy town life and wandering the back streets in the older part of town. Lots of brink and a sense of time. You can almost feel the resistance operatives of World War II running down the streets and disappearing into the...More
