About

This is a small museum where you can be more or less alone, there are no tourists at all, which is a pitty. They have a ver nice collection of paintings and artifacts from the surrounding aerea.

When digging up the history they found mosaics and art dating to Augustus and before. The town was a fortress on the Adriatic and now it is like the Myrtle Beach of Italy. Locals summer vacations there.

A small museum with interesting artifacts. I would call ahead and ask if someone could do some explanation in English if needed, as nothing is labeled in English. There is one fascinating painting which inspired a poem and a club at Baylor University in Texas. If you send a postcard you too can join the Baylor Fano club! For a group of Texans this more than made the museum worthwhile.

This is a very small museum of coins and pottery which is not so good but has a simply marvellous little art gallery. We arrived when no one else was in and we had the place to ourselves with a pleasant guardian to keep an eye on us, or really on his good collection of paintings. Well worth hunting down as it is in a courtyard behind the town hall
