you will love this place in the winter
Jan. 2020
painting of the Black Madonna is a must see. Not that hard to find as we were cruising around the roads pretty successfully. If you are in downtown Crotone basically you go south along the coast and you will find it. As a Catholic I was drawn to the Byzantine place of worship that would feature what i would consider racial diversity. So because it is January we had the church to ourselves. I felt the inner need to treat it like a church and not some tourist attraction although while we was there a family did treat it like an attraction. I was not offended or anything but concentrated on my prayers and was who i was.

the door was open when we got there and we were both struck by the beauty and intricate detail. I am not sure how crowded it gets in the summer but for my purposes i felt that my time there was worth the effort. This was one of the top highlights of a 15 day trip.

There was a archeological museum next to it and we went there too. I am going to find it and review it too. but the two attractions, so to speak, were kind of an epic stop.

Typical little church
Aug. 2019 • Family
This small church is located just 5 minutes from the archaeological museum of Capo Colonna where you can find all the information that you need. Indeed, the church hosts every May a religious festival dedicated to Madonna, which is really interesting for getting more into the culture of South Italy.
Nevertheless, the church is cute and you can even find a cool spot next to it for taking picture of the sea.

The easternmost point of Calabria
Oct. 2018 • Friends
Nice experience to know that you are standing in the easternmost point of Calabria. Black madonnas can be found everywhere, also in Capocolonna.

Wonderful experience.

Wonderful experience.
A unique panorama, facing a beautiful sea.
There are the ruins of an ancient Greek temple, and a column remained intact.
Do not miss the visit a small church with a black Madonna, an ancient single framework in the world.

Pretty!

An out of the way pretty visit! Not too busy at all and fun to spend a few hours at. You'll need a car to get to it.

A small church, nothing else to see
Aug. 2016 • Friends
It is a small church next to the Nao Tower and that's it. Nothing special to see here. A church, a closed tower, a pillar, some ancient ruins and a bar... disappointing.
