Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Small museum which I believe continues to add to its displays. Small admission fee - maybe 3 e each? Spent about 30 minutes. Left with a better feel for the layers of civilizations in Civitavecchia.

We visited this small museum after having read about it on TripAdvisor & were not disappointed. We spent a couple of hours looking over the interesting local artifacts & reading all about the displays. It is a bright & airy building & we were the only visitors on this particular day. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

It was small but comprehensive with its diplays all with multi-lingual captions /& easy to get around with a lift & wide passages, good light & airy. It was not crowded & showed an interesting history period representative of Italy not just the local area.

This is a must visit. We went on a Sunday and entry was free (I’m not sure if that’s the case everyday). The staff spoke English and they were very nice. The museum had some very interesting pieces inside. It’s not very bid and probably takes an hour or less to see everything. All the exhibits had placards in English which I thought explained everything in sufficient detail. The museum is handicap accessible to get inside and there was an elevator so you could get to the second floor. I thought the museum did a great job in providing information about the area, the history of the port, the port’s historical layout, near by ruins, and display of artifacts.

If you can't get to one of the many ancient sites in the area, this is the next best thing. The collection is small, but special. There are some real finds. A trip here makes a great way to spend time before embarking or after disembarking. Lots of good shopping, food and beverages in the area. Walking distance from the forst and seafront.

A nice little museum, free of charge, we spent a couple hours there and found it interesting. A lot of statuary, fragments of excavations, pottery, coins, with an overview of the history of the area.

This quaint little museum has an interesting collection of roman artifacts, some of which were discovered nearby after a bombing during World War Two. Some artifacts are copies but this is stated clearly and all of the major displays are also witten up in English. If you are spending the day in this old port, do drop in. It's free of charge.

An chance visit as we spotted the Museum as we wandered around the town sightseeing. A lot of interesting history of the town and surrounding area. Well worth spending a couple of hours.

This small museum has Roman artifacts and details in english. On two levels with a limited range of pottery, artifacts and even headstones. Worth it because it's free and in town. To visit sites is going to take you a lot further off.

This is another of Italy's ancient history museums. However I wasn't taken by it as I have been with other places that we have seen in this gorgeous country. I don't know why....perhaps because of the way the artefacts are presented, maybe because it is not a large museum that doesn't have the historic value that other parts of Italy have. Anyway it was free and it does show a few of the antiquities of Civitecchia and surrounds. You certainly don't need much time to visit this museo.
