Whist the title tells exactly what this is there is more to see. If you stay on the city side of the bridge and walk along the wall above the river the views are fabulous, then a little further not the city and you are right into the medieval heart of it.

This is a recommended walk to an imposing roman porta and bridge, with the torrent Tronto and the forest below. This is one of the oldest part of town, with lovely alleys and buildings not yes discovered by tourism.

If you like historical places, it is a must to see the medieval neighborhood of Ascoli (not only the squares) around this Porta Cappuccina. This Porta leads you to an Augustean bridge which is amazing and just across the bridge there's a lavatory where women were allowed to wash fabric in medieval times. A regulation of the 15th century says that whoever doesn't allow women to do the wash here will be fined! The whole Medieval neighborhood is worth a visit. …
