I have had the pleasure of visiting this lovely church on two occasions when friends have been visiting. Sorella Maria Gabriela explained the history of the church and artwork in very good English and was delightful, making our visit very enjoyable and informative. An interesting selection of Sicilian sweet delicacies can be purchased on site, made using the same recipes... More

A little difficult to locat needed google maps to find. Watch out as there are 2 entrances side by side. The one on the left guarded by a nun is the best as it gives access to church where there are marvellous plaster statues and decorations. A donation is requested and we were shown around by the nun who spoke... More

The atmosphere that is created in the summer evenings is that of an elegant and charming, thanks to a lighting that enhances the park and the structure of this prestigious period residence.

Ancient Roman church, in the harmonious simplicity of its structure and of its interior, which exacerbate the mystical character, fits perfectly with the places and the buildings that surround it, and is topped by a bell tower and an imposing Romanesque tower dating to 1282.

As we entered the Church with some other vistors one of the Nuns came out & gave us a personal tour, in Italian & English. It was most informative & enjoyable. All the more so as we had to climb very high to this Church & the Cathedral & we timed it badly (avoid early PM), so this tour was... More

The monastery façade on approach is quite attractive, topped by a belfry. One of the resident nuns kindly gave us an informative tour of the Serpotta decorated church. She said there are now nine nuns in the congregation including a number in the young age group. The church is delightful and is a marvellous example of the creativity of the... More

We found this convent by chance , and it was indeed a fortunate one : beautiful abbey , well restored and maintained , with interesting exibitions and a wonderful , light architecture .

A nice little church in an otherwise not very inspiring town (the ruins are the main attraction). A friendly nun gave us a tour and explained everything in good english. Having said that, what I loved were the home made typical Sicilian sweets you can buy from the nuns in the monastery next door. Buy them - they also travel... More

Taken on its own this is quite an interesting church but so many others in the area have much more to offer so poor Santo Spirito is rather left in the shade. Small convent adjoining who's nuns are of a silent order who bake and sell cakes.

The church was supposedly closed that day but we knocked on the door and where received by a young nun that showed us around the church and described the works of art. We could not visit the cloister. The nuns bake and sale delicious pastries with pistacchio and almond. The convent has also a bed & breakfast at very convenient... More
