Ancient Greek temples right off a postcard!
Like a postcard! Beautifully preserved Greek temples along a lovely 2-3 km path with a garden at the very end. The Temple of Colombia (with a statue of a fallen Icarus in front of it) was the absolute highlight - 3,500 years old and nearly perfectly preserved. Wonderful way to spend a day. Highly recommend!

    Awe inspiring
We went in the late afternoon. The light was gorgeous and it kept getting richer and richer. It was golden. At each part of the park, the light was subtly changing by the minute from getting almost direct sunlight to having the sun at our backs. It was an all exciting experience to see these moumentsfrom so many thousands of years ago. There was only one really large tour group.People were very respectfulof each other trying to take that iconic photo that we all had seen in books and online.

    Great Temples site
Make sure you go to the car park at the far end, it makes more sense with more stalls there. It's a fantastic site with a low cost. The most complete Greek temple is really good. However all the Temples are very good. Decent Cafes on the route too.

    Amazing
What a journey back through time The history of the valley from the Greeks and all that followed them . Amazing to realize the size of the Greek city and the way the temples were built at that time. The views are incredible also with the sea and the present day city. Definitely a visit not to be missed for anyone interested in ancient history.

    fabulous and informative
Even without a guide, it was great. I recommend Rick Steves guidebook for this, and along with the onsite descriptions I feel like I had a decent understanding. It was hard to figure out when the site opened - it was actually open 8:30-19 despite most places online saying it was open 10-18. I went at 10, and because the site is large I was able to navigate around the big tour groups. An evening visit may have been even better. What worked well for me was parking at the West entrance (Porta V) and walking directly all the way to the other end (Juno/Giugnone); I think you can take a shuttle too. That way I got my bearings around the site, and did the uphill walk first. Then I went downhill, back towards Porta V, looking at everything in detail. Parking cost me 3.30E each for the museum and the site. I also recommend the museum, but better after you take a break after seeing the site.

    Must see
If you enjoy ancient history, this site is well worth the time. It requires some easy walking time, and if you go from one end to the other, you might want to make arrangements for a drive back to the start. Nevertheless, the temples and their setting are worth visiting.

If you like your roman history/temples
came here on an organised excursion via get your guide but was told better from palermo rather than catania..you can also do the Turkish steps as an addition to this. We had an hour and half and can see the bulk of the temples in this time, maybe 2 hours would be slightly better. The main temple concoridia had some scaffolding next to it but it in great condition and great photo opportunities. We didn't take a guide but maybe this would be bit more informative We also went to a Roman villa after this..it was about a 2 hour journey and the local operator we used was lemon tour

    Awesome.
The valley isn’t a valley and it’s a crest on the hill. It’s also amazing to see things this old that still exist. They are still working on excavations and finding more and finding more all the time. This is totally worth seeing even if it is hard to get to.

    Beautiful World Heritage Site
My friend and I visited Valley of the Temples on a day trip from Palermo. We used the train which we found comfortable and a reasonable price Euro 11.40 and taking 2 hours. It was a chance to see the wild deserted interior of the island. We then got on bus number 1 from outside the station to the main entrance of the site.It is situated on a ridge with beautiful views over the "new town" of Agregento and surrounding countryside. The main attraction is the complete temple of Concordia but the other temples are of interest as well. There is a good path but the site is huge so we didnt manage to see the museum and Roman quarter as we had to catch our train back.We took a taxi back to the station which cost Euro 15 but worth it as we were tired.

One of those Must See sites!
We arrived at the eastern entrance of this huge site. It was raining heavily but our guide's explanations were so interesting that we were listening as if there weren't any rain. First, we saw the three ancient Greek temples from the V. century BC which are best preserved: the Temple of Hera, the Temple of Concordia and the Temple of Hercules. We also saw an early Christian necropolis. As we approached the other end of the Valley, the temples there were ruins because of the frequent earthquakes.

The monuments in the park are enchanting, without taking a guide we downloaded the park app on our mobile phone in which a voice explains the salient parts of what we are going to see. A very talented archaeologist, Ilaria, whom we thank, led us and explained the underground part of the park, an experience that I highly recommend, you can buy the ticket at the entrance at a cost of 10 euros. Furthermore, with an additional 3 euros to the cost of the entry ticket you can purchase entry to the museum, which you can see on the same day or in the following 3 days, I also recommend this. We also returned at sunset, in the evening it is suggestive and very romantic, if you can, buy tickets online to avoid the queue which is considerable. There is convenient parking which costs from 2 to 5 euros depending on the length of stay.

This is a must see ancient site in Sicily that offers one a sense of the size and grandeur of ancient Greece and the subsequent Romans. If you have never seen a Greek temple, you will be in awe of the architecture.

This is a highly visited destination so do not come here expecting to learn about the history of the site. The signage is awful. You are much better off learning about the place prior to your visit so that the experience of seeing the history can be much more appreciated.

As highlighted, this place is huge and requires a lot of walking on uneven ground. I kept seeing signs for a shuttle service somewhere along the way but I never did see it. In fact, the conveniences of a tourist destination that you may be expecting for a place like a national park in the states, are non-existent. We still have no clue where the restrooms are here. Make sure you find out before you jaunt out across the valley.

Parking is a guessing game. We arrived in mid-afternoon hoping to avoid the intense sun. We were able to find a parking space in the field type parking facility. I suppose you were supposed to immediately pay for parking but the signage was not clear. On the way out we drove up to the gate only to find out we hadn't paid the fee. Needless to say people were totally ticked off at our stupidity. Pay for the parking before you drive to the exit.

There were a few concessions at the ticketing office and not much of anything else within the valley. Thank God we brought water with us as I probably would have died here otherwise. I would also advise you to take a few snacks along just in case.

We were able to see the entire site in the afternoon and stick around to capture some amazing sunsets and the incredible lighting in the evening. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here despite the pathetic infrastructure. The photographic opportunities are limitless. Definitely a must see for anyone in to antiquities.

Go either in the early morning or late afternoon. Bring comfortable shoes and water. Allow at least 2.5 hours to adequately engage this location. Figure out the parking before you leave the lot to avoid being cursed out in Italian.

Entrance €12 per person, it is reasonable as you could spend 2.5 hours here to see everything. All places have written details in English as to what it was for etc. wear sturdy shoes as ground uneven and lots of walking, wear sun cream and protective hat as it gets very warm. There is a cafe/ restaurant within the valley of temples. Restoration ongoing but they’ve done a good job so far. We wandered slowly to see the two main temples and it took 1.5 hours.

The Valley of the Temples is absolutely amazing! The park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is the largest archaeological site in the world. The temples, especially the well preserved Temple of Concordia, are extremely impressive and very beautiful. It was very humbling to walk amongst these structures built in the 5th century B.C.! We visited in the late afternoon which was a great time to go. The crowds were very light and we got to photograph everything in the evening “sweet light,” then saw the sunset over the valley, and finally got to see everything illuminated with spotlights against the night sky.

We booked online: it was a little difficult to navigate the various types of tickets, but otherwise it was a quick operation.
We took advantage of the opportunity to visit the Park at sunset and it was a wonderful experience: acceptable temperature, beautiful temples illuminated first by the setting sun and then by the suggestive artificial light system.
In some points, a surplus of lighting would have been useful to avoid possible accidental falls and to see some more elements.
The idea of adding wonder to wonder with the exhibition dedicated to the Virgin of the Rocks was a good one, but it was disappointing (we didn't find any brochures that clarified the reasons for the visit, even though each painting had its own caption).
However, two situations left a bad taste in our mouths: in the car park at Porta V (the one located in the lower area of the valley) we were offered a shuttle to reach the upper part of the valley (that of the ticket office of the temple of Juno) at the price of 3 euros per person, (which I recommend not spending, unless you have special needs). We asked if there was also a fee for the dog we were bringing with us and we were given a negative response. At our destination, however, despite the protests, in order not to ruin our evening, we also had to pay 3 euros for the dog: a real "baseness", which should not be allowed in general, even more so in places so frequented by tourists from all over the world.
What can we say about the shocking price of the guided tour (which we refused): 20 euros per person, minors exempt: far too many, even considering that at the archaeological park of Syracuse we only paid 11 euros directly at the ticket office.

Going late afternoon at around 5pm and then staying to see the temples lit up (7.30pm when we were there) was spectacular. €12 per person plus €4 parking was great value as well. Plenty of information boards in Italian and English dotted around if you only want a flavour rather than the in-depth version offered through an audio guide.

This extensive area features a ridge of Ancient Greek temples in Sicily, which have been reconstructed carefully and surrounded by groves of almond, cypress, olive and peach trees. In early Spring, when the trees are in flower, this area could not be more beautiful. Unfortunately the associated Museum is kilometres away, not on-site as the map suggests, and important areas such as the Roman mosaics I went to see, were closed. The combined ticket is a waste of money.

I left a review some weeks ago but it appears to have been removed.

We visited in the evening and as a customer with a disability, was happy to see that there are electric vehicles provided to help customers with the long, hot walk. However when I queued to use the service (at €3 per person for approx 800 metres) after a fifteen minute wait the bus driver refused to take passengers. Saying a bus would be along in “fifteen minutes”. After a protest he did take one severely disabled woman and her career but left the rest of us at the bus stop in 35 degree heat. Given no option but to walk , it took me half an hour to get back to the entrance, no buses passed us. But two were parked outside the restaurant halfway up the hill. No service at all.

I spoke to the manager but was told the buses were not his responsibility. I showed h8m my disabled parking badge.

So, if you have mobility issues, you cannot rely on their bus service. Please do not take this review down, it is an honest account of what happened to me and two other members of my party.

Sicily is beautiful in every aspect, but Valley of Temples exceeded our expectations. Some people say the temples are even better preserved than ones in Greece. Don't know about the greek ones, but temples in Agrigento really are amazing!
The site itself is extensive, expect to spend there at least 2-3 hours of medium paced walk, which can become pretty exhausting in the summer heat. We refreshed ourselves in a restaurant located in the park and tried their homemade cannoli. They were the best ones we tried in Sicily!

A few practical pieces of advice which I am always looking for when going to new places:

1. We went through the Juno (east side). There is parking there (need to pay, we paid €3.5 for about two hours). Inside the parking it’s a bit free for all with no clear parking bays but it is manageable. You need pay on exit in cash only! Exit is delayed when it’s busy as there are many people who don’t bother to pay when they come back and then stop the whole traffic when they need to wait in queue to wait… stay patient and don’t get angry Keith others trying to overtake you / pass quicker. It’s the Mediterranean after all.

2. A lot of reviews talk about the difficulty of the walk. I didn’t think it was that bad. What makes it bad is if you come at full heat. It could become unbearable very quickly. We came at 630pm so we saw it during the day and then night when lights came on.

3. You can rent and e scooter for an hour or two with a guide. Some of us used easy way. Fabrizio was our guide and he was awesome!

4. We ate dinner at a restaurant less than 5 minutes away with a view of the temples. It’s called re di gergenti. Amazing food. Suggest you book in advance.

5. There are a lot of people and tough to get photos without people. Just expect that.

6. Buy tickets online in advance. €13. Under 18 free. There is a queue to buy tickets which could be quite long. If you bought online make sure to take the right path as otherwise you will be stuck behind people looking to buy tickets.
