The gardens has been one of the most memorable and amazing places we have visited in Canberra (October 2024) we were amazed with the attention to details of every building, figurine, gardens, trains, flowers and international history. The gardens also had many interactive features for children (and very big children) to interact with. Well worth the trip and entrance fee, there is so much work that goes into this attraction, well done to the creator, gardeners, designers and I would imagine many more. We also enjoyed a lovely morning tea in the Cafe.

We called in on a rainy day
We walked around the little villages with the place just about to yourselves. I have been before but it is alway a delight to visit the only draw back was that because is was raining the small trains that ran around the miniature town where not working . We had a train ride about the place and all in all it was a great day
I would recommend a visit when visiting Canberra.

We spent a couple of hours here and loved the detail in all the models. The gardens were superb even though it was autumn and all the miniatures were detailed and immaculate. We particularly appreciated the amusing little surprises to be found if you looked carefully. The amount of maintenance required to keep the gardens and buildings immaculate must be immense. The staff were friendly. I was puzzled about how a few reviewers found it boring because we found it fascinating. Maybe they were expecting a Movie World/Theme park experience. We would thoroughly recommend a trip here if you are in Canberra.

I would have rated this 'good' if the option was there. It was enjoyable however didn't really hold the interest of my 4 year old. The most exciting part for her was the model trains in the international section which move when you wave your hand in front of the sensor. It was a rainy day when we visited & whilst we wore raincoats, I loved that there were free golf umbrellas for patrons to use while visiting. Some of the models were in disrepair. I wouldn't really recommend the steam train as it's $3 per person but just 2 laps of a small loop, about a 2 minute trip. It only operates every 45minutes & the line up was very long.

The gardens are well maintained and it’s a lovely little place to stroll around and look at the displays. The main reason for an average review is about half of the interactive displays were not working, it’s all quite old so understandable. The train wasn’t working- no reason given just that it wasn’t. But the main problem here is the entry price. It was $75 entry for a family of 4. All up we were here for an hour and that was stretching out the time. It’s just way overpriced for what it is which left a little bit of a sour taste! Half that price would have been about right for what’s there. They also then charge an extra $3 per train ride if you’re lucky enough to go when the train is working. So if it wasn’t for the entry price I’d say take a look but not for that kind of money.

Lovely gardens and displays, seems there's something to see in every corner.
This could be done in under 1 hour really - that being said, there are other things to do here in Gold Creek Village that can be done over the course of the day.
If you're interested in taking the steam train ride ($3) I suggest purchasing the ticket as you enter. Otherwise you get to the "station" to board, with no signage on how to actually buy said ticket and you have to double back to the entrance. My 5 year old LOVED the ride, so don't skip it.
There is a cafe/bar attached to the gift shop with some beautiful artworks and miniature figurines and keepsakes available.

Very disappointed - not Covid safe.
We prebooked our time slot and paid online thinking we were limited to restricted numbers of people being able to enter in each allocated time slot. When we got there we found unlimited numbers and no one there to monitor numbers or people movement. We found it impossible to social distance and there were people that were not wearing masks. It was very disappointing as we could not enjoy the wonderful displays due to the large crowds of people.

Very expensive for what I would call 60 minutes of entertainment. Displays are tired and just generally need some love. Train not operating and signs up everywhere blaming Covid for delays and a lack of maintenance. Taps, water features and pipe work leaking in multiple locations. Just expected a bit more for $25 per adult for entry.

Went with my 5 year old and 11 year old. We were there an hour and my 5 year old was whinging to leave.
It was very busy due to Oct long weekend and Floridade, we could not even get a photo as we were packed like sardines with the rest of the crowd.
Steam train rides were sold out and the play area wasn’t very good
Would recommend for older kids/adults who like flowers maybe, too boring for little ones

This attraction has certainly evolved over the years and I’m happy to see the international flavour it had added in addition to its ‘old English village’ theme. It’s certainly a fun time walking through this exhibit, especially when you have small children in tow. There are plenty of other attractions adjacent to Cockington Green so plan to spend the whole day.

I want to visit the garden at the end of January with my family, so I was wondering will I still be able to witness the vivid flowers planted in the garden during that time?
Written 1 December 2018
I think they would have a continuous display of different flowers. I have only been there once but I'm sure they would have more flowers coming on all the time. I guess the heat may be a problem if it turns out to be hot the week of your visit but their are plenty of non plant ideas to give you value for money anyway.

Visiting Canberra next month and interested in paying Cockington Green a visit. Can anyone tell me how big is this place and how long should I allocate for this attraction? Is 2 hours enough?

Hi Baileys,
We recommend a minimum of 1 hour to walk through. If you are planning to stay for a while have some lunch, take a train ride, then purchase our value pack which includes entry, steam train rides, souvenir guide book and discount vouchers to our cafe and souvenir shop. Enjoy your visit.

Hi
Can you advise how to get there from Sydney?
Any local tour?
Thanks
Written 2 September 2015
If you're driving down from Sydney (approx. 3hrs drive) Apse Tours has a local tour which includes Cockington Green.
If you have children 3 In Fun Canberra has a tour which also includes Questacon & Australian Institute of Sport.
Extra Green Holidays does a bus tour from Sydney to Cockington Green Village then visit New Parliament House & National Library, tour past the Prime Minister’s Lodge, Diplomatic Embassies and War Memorials.

This system will not allow me to post links.
You will have to google ACTION buses in Canberra to get a link for the time tables and bus routes
The final bus you need to get on is the 51 or 251 from the bus interchange at the Belconnen Mall..
The way the bus system works in Canberra is that there are major bus interchanges in places such as Woden, Belconnen and in the centre of the city. You get on the bus that takes you to your nearest interchange then you get on the bus that travels between bus interchanges until you get to Belconnen, then in Belconnen, you get on the 51 or 251 bus that takes you to Cockington Green
