Unfortunately, for me, having been forced to read and learn as Gaelge (In Irish language) the book narrated by Peig Sayers, which was her account of an awful life endured by the Islanders and then subsequently... suffered by thousands of misfortunate students of Irish for...More

If you visit the Dingle area the coastal drive and ferry to Blasket are a must. Do choose a dry day as there is little shelter on the Island. Regular boats to and from and you can do an overnighter or camp. The views are...More

We had the opportunity to spend the afternoon at the Great Blasket island at the end of August. We were escorted here with the Great Blasket Islands Boat tour. You can read our review of the actual boat tour on Trip Advisor. Based on previous...More

Highlight of trip was the guide, Louise, she engaged both adults and children - covered the history of the island in 30 minutes without racing to the finish - she effortlessly contextualised the "dreaded" Peig. Ar fheabhas ar fad. Beware of the midges

You must schedule a ferry to get here and I strongly recommend the one from Dunquin. Great people! The island itself was gorgeous. Unforgettable views and I got to see seals for the first time, very close. If you like the sea, nature, animals, history,...More

The history and the wildlife are not to be missed ...we saw Minky whales, dolphin and sat on the beach with a colony of seals. Puffin, guillemot, gannets and gulls accompanied the ferry boat trip. Billy and Alice provide care and hospitality to a high...More

There's such a peaceful atmosphere there, it's like stepping back in time. The journey is worth it and you plenty of time to explore the island with a beautiful beach. The little houses are sweet and the people there are so nice.

It depends on what you are into. If you are into the whole Star Wars theme, then Skellig Michael is a must, otherwise they are both equally beautiful. Although when you get back home, you probably will be sorry for not doing... More
