Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is the third time I have visited Atlixco, but never on the Day of the Dead. It is a fascinating spectacle. I visited the monumental catrinas, the marigold fields, the wide staircase and the Zócalo. Everything was beautiful, I tried the cempasuchil snow, a true delight, as well as the pinole water. I truly left with enormous satisfaction and immense joy, knowing that in Mexico we have incredible and wonderful places and Atlixco is one of them.

The zocalo is a nice place to sit relax and enjoy youself. many nice restaurants and stores around it. the town has a couple of touristy things, but not a lot. Metepec has a famous pool resort area which is 12 minutes away. in that same area there is a rustic waterfall area and also a relaxing place for trout fish (they say trucha, both fishing and eating). There is a tourist bus but we asked to late in the day, I think it has more runs on the weekends. About 2 days of the week there is a major market on several steets. The local market right by zocalo is very large and many of the people of Atlixco shop there for economical prices for their needs and to eat there. Also in the area one can get great fotos of the mountains of Popo and Itzi (abreviated names as they are difficult to spell).

Glad I had a chance to go outside Puebla to this historic town. Captures the essence of the region away from the city.

As Pueblos Magicos go, Atlixco is in the second division. Not that there is anything particularly wrong with the place - just that it doesn't quite live up to the best. There are some interesting sights for sure - but not the "Magic". Weather permitting you will get some spectacular views of Popocatepetl. The Zocalo has a couple of decent restaurants and also a couple of the ubiquitous "The Italian Coffee Company" places (Mexico´s own Starbucks) and one has even taken over the centre of the Plaza.

Decided on a day trip to Atlixco from Puebla by public transport. Took an Uber from Centro to CAPU bus station and bought tickets from ORO for a 1 hour ride to Atlixco. Departures are often. The ORO bus station in Atlixco is about 6 blocks from the Zocalo on Calle Inpendencia. On the way you can stop in the large and interesting Mercado Benito Juarez.
Atlixco is known for its flower production and the mercado has a large section of flower arrangements.
The Zocalo is a gorgeous city centre piece. Beautifully maintained gardens surrounded by interesting buildings with portals and of course a church (still closed for earthquake repairs on our visit). The zocalo perimeter includes beautiful talavera covered seating and, strangely, a large Italian Coffee Company outlet in the central gazebo. Make sure you go up to its second floor for a good view of the surroundings. Loved Atlixco, glad we made the trip..

It is very small spot where town folks meet and enjoy a walk around. There are a variety of business you can enjoy. In my opinion, just an average small gathering place

I went on a day trip from Puebla right before the X-mas holiday. The Zocalo was decorated with all sorts of electric lights. So, if you go at this time of the year, you must stay until it gets dark to see the lights. You will also be treated to fine people watching, singing, and the sorts of goings-on that a great communal space has to offer. There is a restaurant/coffee shop right in the middle of the zocalo, so you can relax with a hot drink while you partake of the festive atmosphere.

We Ubered from Cholula to Atlixco for a diversion. We got our goal accomplished. The walk about the center of town, Zocalo was an interesting one . the local market is enormous. The fall earthquake 2017 had still created much to be done. However the locals are resilient and the Zocalo is a positive testament to the beauty of a people that have gone through an incredibly horrific of natures bad side.

Hey Joseph! By car it’s not really far only 20 minutos, there’s another option “Public transport” the bus line that can bring you to Atlixco it’s called “Oro or Erco”. You can find them in the central bus station in Puebla: “CAPU”.
