About
Adventure Destination Addo prides itself in having unique safari vehicles that can either be open or closed depending on the weather. The 4 vehicles we have are capable of carrying 35 passengers, each vehicle with a qualified guide. Our speciality is SAFARIS INTO ADDO ELEPHANT NATIONAL PARK. We have 4 different game drives. *The early morning tour, which will allow you to see the nocturnal (night) animals mix with the durnal (day) animals. This is always an unexpected tour, full of mystery and the unexpected. A quality picnic breakfast will be served. Starts at 7.00 a.m. and returns at 12.00 a.m. * A half day starting at 9.00 and returning at 2.00 for those who want a later start. Nothing wrong here, still lots of animals to see! *Our afternoon tour starts at 2.30 p.m. and returns when the park closes. *The full day tour includes a lunch time picnic. 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. Besides these exciting tours we offer many river activities and sand dune hikes and sand boarding.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had Derek as our full day tour guide. What animals you see depends on the day as they are wild and not kept in enclosures (kind of the whole point) Derek was very knowledgeable about the animals, the park and its history and kept us entertained all day, including the Farrari safari at the end as we almost went past closing time. We will be back next year and do it all again.

I had a farm in Africa ... so are the rooms. Simple, but in keeping with a lodge. We had a lovely room on the first floor overlooking the river. The owner is very concerned about her guests. Breakfast is lovingly arranged. The lodge offers parking on its own parking lot. Guests are picked up from here for the safari tours.
The hotel only offers breakfast. Dinner is served in the neighbouring (about 1.5 km) restaurant at the petrol station. Alternatively, there is an English pub nearby.

I can’t even begin to describe what an amazing experience we had with Dungbeetle tours. We were a group of 9 family members with 3 being from overseas. We booked the half day Addo Elephant park experience and unfortunately we arrived late. Etta was so understanding and waited for our arrival. She was accommodating, friendly and so knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend them and without a doubt will be using their services again. Thank you Etta and team!

Mike our guide was very knowledgeable but a full day was way too much. A half day is all you need and you will probably only see lots of elephants. There are only 5 lions in the whole park, so you have little chance of seeing them, nobody has seen a leopard for months and the chances of seeing a rhino are slim. If you want a guide or don't have transport, then OK but frankly you'd be better off in your own car and just use the park's map to go around the water holes, where all the animals are anyway.

Mike, the guide, has lots of experience and his enthusiasm was wonderful. We learned a lot about the different animals and had a chance to see some unique interactions by some animal families; the stop at the Dungbeetle Lodge was also wonderful ...

Etta was a very nice and knowledgeable tour guide for our excursion through Addo Elephant Park. My tour began with coffee on the Dungbettle Lodge deck overlooking Sundays River, which is beautiful scenery. Then we loaded up on the comfortable Gogga (safari bus) for our day long tour.
Throughout the tour, Etta informed us of various interesting facts pertaining to the wildlife and environment. She was very patient if you wanted to get just the right picture and even ensured we found the lions that had been hiding most of the day!
I definitely recommend Dungbettle tours and although I did not stay at the lodge, it looked quite cozy. Derek and Etta genuinely care about their guests and I will definitely consider staying at least a night or two at the Lodge in the future.

Edda and Derek are the most welcoming couple and so passionate about everything they do! We booked a one day tour to the Addo Elephant National Park with Edda as a Game Guide. With her on our side we spotted tons of animals and got so many background information about all the creatures and the medical uses of many of the plants.

Mike explained all about the plants and animals and how they worked together. Very informative but fun good! We found four of the big five and were able to spend time watching the activities of elephants in their own habitat plus lions, warthogs, zebra, ostrich and many more.

Wonderful visit with a great variety of animals. Our guide Derek was a wonderful raconteurs andthe day just flew by. We suggest the full day visit rather than the half-day. Best not drink too much at breakfast as washrooms are few and far between.

Hallo,
