    Very impressive
We took a tour of the opera house as part of our visit to Muscat and it was well worth it. Beautiful building and very cleverly built, would be amazing to see a performance here. Even the bins are beautiful!

    Fantastic Opera House
It is unreal how much thought and design went into this grand opera house. You can visit during the day for a tour which costs only 3.25 OMR per person which includes a guided tour. Our group sat with the guide for a significant amount of time asking questions related to the equipment and design of the opera house. The interior is very ornate and there are a lot of details to admire. The Sultan donated some of his own collection of instruments to the opera house so there are some items to admire in the foyer as well. As of October 2023 they are not having shows due to the conflicts between Palestine and Israel but the shows that were scheduled will be postponed until it is a more agreeable time. Very respectful. Plan to spend about an hour here for just the tour and longer if you come for a show. Tour groups come in early so it might be worth going in the middle of the day when it is less busy. We went around noon and had no issues.

Beautiful Building, English speaking Tour Guide
Entrance fee here is about $8.19, payable by credit card. The English speaking guide briefly explained about its construction, classical shows such as operas and ballets presented at the Opera House. We proceeded to the area where musical instruments are on display, represented to belong to the late King/Sultan before going inside the Opera. Our guide explained about the movable areas of the stage to suit the needs of the shows being presented. Told us about the seating area reserved for the Sultan and his guests. Took many pictures here.

Don't miss out on the music exhibition attached to the opera House via the Opera Galleria shopping center
"Oman and the World: A Musical Journey, an exciting interactive journey in which you will learn about the story of music and its origins". You need to go through the Opera Galleria shopping center, go to the top floor and you'll find a walkway leading to this exhibition. A must for young kids and family alike.

    A stunning place
The Royal Opera House is a ‘must do’ on a visit to Muscat. I arrived a day early for a group tour of Oman so decided that I would visit the ROH - I’m so glad I did. I joined an English speaking tour of the opera house which was well worth it as the guide brought the place to life and was very knowledgeable. The interior is just stunning with materials sourced from all over the world. I recommended this place to others on the tour of Oman and they were equally impressed.

    Bolshoi Ballet
We saw the Bolshoi Ballet last night and it was an amazing experience. It’s highly subsidised so ticket prices are about one third what they would be in London. It’s a beautiful theatre and everyone gets dressed up so it’s a very glamorous experience. They also have occasional free concerts by young musicians.

    Royal indeed
The pristine shiny marble flooring & the beautiful architecture is inspiring ! The entry is majestic while the garden was teaming with colourful flowers especially petunias. The inside of the opera house felt cool & grand … box office counter was inviting but there wasn’t going to be show in the near future! The upscale showrooms of Lalique & other major jewellery stores gave a very posh & luxurious feel ! The Opera House is very well & centrally located well worth a visit even if no shows are running

    Impressive Structure
I have been to a few Opera Houses in the World like in Vienna, Palais Garnier in Paris, Sydney Opera House but I never imagined seeing one in an Arabic country so I was impressed by the efforts of the late Sultan of Oman who is a lover of culture to invest in such an impressive structure- The Royal Opera House of Oman. The Late Sultan commissioned Royal Opera house of Oman has the biggest stage and most modern opera house I have visited. Even the floors can move 2-3 levels down depending on the performance . This is a very impressive Opera House.

    Beautiful
An impressive building. The way that Islamic architecture is very subtly and imperceptibly is embedded within a western style architecture is a great artistic touch. It's clear that the late Sultan Qaboos was in love with music and architecture and this place embodies both. However it's a bit overpriced.

...both inside and out, this place is a must-see when in Muscat. It’s definitely worth paying 6 Rials to get onto one of the tours to be able to see inside the auditorium itself. Visiting here was one of the highlights of my trip to Oman.

The opera house is simply amazing. It was carefully designed with a lot of thoughts put into it including the performance stage. The musical instrument collection displayed in the reception shows how passionate the late Sultan was for music. It's really hard to describe how magnificent this place is so a visit is a must. I love the fact that they do not overcharge for tickets so all Omanis can have a chance to come and see performances.

I only visited this place for a half an hour tour but would love to come again to watch a performance. The tour itself is highly recommended.

The Royal Opera House is a place so opulent it is a 'must see' place when in Muscat. It is a very classy place but definitely not garish. The place is open in the mornings all days to visited & a extremely friendly guide will take you around the place & explain the intricacies of the place. The way the main stage can be moved & made smaller or bigger as per the programme requirements is just amazing. The icing on the cake is there are NO microphones in the auditorium.

I haven't seen them all, but have seen many famous opera houses in the world...Sydney, Vienna, Italy, etc....but this one knocked me out. Instantly recognizable as an opera house but stunningly unique. The architecture pays tribute to the classic styling but does so in a way that highlights Omani culture. The lobby itself is a gorgeous marvel with Italian marble flooring and teak wood ceiling and the concert space is both warm and inviting and a technological marvel. Full disclosure, I cannot stand opera or classical music but do love architecture, which is why I always take an opportunity to tour them as they are typically the most impressive buildings in a town. For only the second time did I tour an opera house and then want to buy tickets for the show (sadly, the country was in mourning for the Sultan and they were not performing during our visitThe tour of this building was just perfect as we got all of the information in a concise way, and they did not drag out the tour as so many places do. Special call out to our guide Safa as she was excellent. The tour was in English but we had some French people in our group and once she heard them speaking, she addressed them in French to ensure they had their questions answered. A rare talent.

Beautiful building from the outside, and very grand interiors. The tour guide brings you around the opera house, and shows you the highlights of the decor. The ability to re-arrange the insides to accommodate for different types of performances, is pretty awesome.

An opera house on steroids it's very large & full of very fine details. It's amazing what they can do for different performances seats, boxes & stage wings all move at a touch of a button which would have been great to see. The gardens are worth a visit.

Well worth a visit if you are in Muscat

I've seen a few Opera Houses in other countries but this one is by far the most beautiful Opera House I've ever seen. It's also one of the prettiest buildings in Muscat. It's beautiful during the day but it's even more so at night when it gets lit up.

The only Opera House in Oman, and well worth a visit. Stunning on the outside, with marble and gold everywhere. Payment required to get in to the actual interior, and cash not accepted - card payments only.
