About
Situated on coastal farmland in Wallington, east of Geelong and just over an hour from Melbourne on the Bellarine Peninsula, is Oakdene’s boutique vineyard, cellar door, restaurant, café and gardens. With award winning premium cool climate wines, a highly acclaimed restaurant and café serving exquisitely prepared food and three themed accommodation rooms, the unique property is an experience you shouldn't miss. Oakdene’s hand-crafted wines are elegant, reflecting varietal character and complexity. Dedication to excellence in the vineyard and winery produce great results with wines being awarded medals and trophies in major wine shows and a consistent 5-star rating in the Halliday Wine Companion over many years. The cellar door is manned by a small team of locals who have developed an intimate understanding of the region and a deep knowledge of the wines. The team are keen to talk you through the range of award-winning wines with the cellar door open 10am -7pm every day.

Disgraceful greetings, This was the last of 3 we visited this day, was 3pm . We parked went in and was made to feel unwelcomed the moment the chap opened his mouth. Talked down to us, not hospitality at all. We the said the chap we will just go get something to eat at the café into which is part of the winery. The place stated it closed at 4pm when i asked the las if we could get something to eat she abruptly said were closed. Funny thing is still about 30 people seated in the cafe. So lose -lose for you both, my money stays in my pocket and the local fast food joint gets it.

Nice atmosphere friendly staff. 5 stars. Food 2 stars.
Partner had an entree of calamari 6 little pieces, and a few slices of beetroot and orange slices for 21 bucks. Calamari was rubbery…. For 21 dollars expecting a little more.
I had a small half chicken with a nice rub with a more than decent amount of coleslaw..: ok 29 bucks.
A small blow of hot chips 12 bucks.
Couple glasses of coke 5 dollars each….
Expensive meal, overpriced in my opinion left the restaurant feeling

Quirky and sweet little cellar door. Nothing remarkable, but not bad. Decent Merlot/Cab blend, and surprisingly floral Chardonnay that went down well. Peta's 2018 Pinot Noir was the highlight. Good service and knowledgeable staff

We were disappointed. A friend had recommended the restaurant and we had benn to Sotchmans Hill yesterday (EXCELLENT!!) and had similar expectations Without having done any online research admittedly.
Friendly service. Average run of the mill food in a cheap and cheery environment. Not that much cheaper than yesterday either.

Made a long drive out of way to obtain gift for loved one.
She’s a big fan of Lighthouse Olive Oil and it’s hard to find stockists.
Oakdene is the main HQ. Entered tasting room but not really welcomed.
Attention more on some retirees having a crack at the poured wines.
Browsed a little then grabbed a boxed olive oil.
Earlier intention for Pinot noir extra buy was soon forgotten.
Language at payment desk informally hmm “that all, mate?”

Oakdene Vinyard is located in the greater Geelong city. It's location is in the midst of the wine area. Oakdene provides a good environment to enjoy wine tasting and a stroll through the gardens.

We had a group of ten with very mixed personalities, but Bret (it has been four weeks, I hope I recall his name correctly) at the Oakdene Cellar Door was very accommodating and started out with basic information with those who only cared to taste, and went more in depth for those who cared about the process.
There were plenty of hits, only a few misses, and it was ten bucks for unlimited pours of about fifteen wines. The Cabernet and the William Shiraz were my personal favorites.
There is also a great little cafe on the grounds for kids who maybe shouldn't be having the wine.

Been meaning to call in for a while for a glass of wine, and/or lunch. Today was the former option but sadly we weren’t even able to enjoy our wine in the restaurant despite an empty front of house and were promptly directed to drink it in the front bar, which was cold and un-welcoming despite the magnificent (unlit) fireplace. Overall it was an ordinary experience for us which equally could have been wonderful and welcoming. Needless to say I won’t be returning for an encore anytime soon. Oakdene has tremendous potential, which is a real tragedy but certainly not worthy of your hard earned.

Thank you for taking the time to review us at Marty's. We do appreciate all feedback both positive & negative, but it is quite upsetting to hear you did not enjoy your visit with us. Our main dining area is set for a restaurant service and on occasion when we do have guests looking to have a drink (or two!) they find our quirky front bar & game area very welcoming for this.
On Sunday our fireplace was unlit and you may have noticed some ash in the fireplace. The fire was lit on Friday night and too much smoke created which travelled through the restaurant so we have not been able to light it again until the issue is resolved. There is a heater in the room to keep warm however if you feel the room was cold & un-welcoming I apologise and certainly will look into this matter.
I do hope you try Oakdene again as we do have lots on offer including our 'upside-down house' Cellar Door where you can taste and drink wine, along with our Mr Grubb Café for a casual lunch or dinner inside or in the Summer months a drink and a nibble on the deck under the silver birch trees.

Visited here 7th April 2019.
We had 15 people here for a 60th Wedding Anniversary.
So we had people ranging in age from 15 to 85.
Prior to booking here we had a lot of trouble with a number of places in this area either couldnt accommodate our numbers or refused to accommodate us with a few changes.
Sarah was called from Oakdene and was brilliant at understanding our needs ( and there wasnt many- vegetarian and rather than 2 tables or more a configeration for 1 table) Did this without any hesitation and was excellent with Menu.
We arrived to a welcome and for the next 3.5 hrs we were treated wonderfully with great food and drink and service was perfect. Everything was spaced out well, no one waited for a drink and food ( thanks Chef) was delicious.
3 course meal, coffees - and extremely well priced.
The Oakdene wines we had was also very good.
IN a group of 15 people with this varied age group its rare to not get a whinge from someone, however not a complaint.
The main female waiter we had was fantastic.
Highly recommended *****

No, there isn't an entrance fee to visit. However, if you want to do a wine tasting at the cellar door, there is a $5 tasting fee which is refundable on purchase of wine.
