We thoroughly enjoyed our wine tasting here. We tasted five different wines of our choice which was nice. The tastings were not rushed and each glass was marked with two letters so we knew which one was which. I see that there are a lot of reviews of food but from my outstanding the Vineyards are not the same business as the restaurant. So if you would like some nice wines, I would highly recommend a visit here.

We were disappointed. A friend had recommended the restaurant and we had benn to Sotchmans Hill yesterday (EXCELLENT!!) and had similar expectations Without having done any online research admittedly.
Friendly service. Average run of the mill food in a cheap and cheery environment. Not that much cheaper than yesterday either.

We made the most of the state government accommodation rebate and booked this quirky venue for two nights. We stayed in the water room which had views to a garden below with lots of seating. The bathroom was set in a water tank and well set up, beautiful hot water. The room was spacious with tea and coffee facilities. We also did the wine tasting where staff were helpful and wine delicious. A wander around the garden showed quirky eclectic array of art work and plants. We ate both nights at the Mr Grubb restaurant as it was amazing food.

Nice atmosphere friendly staff. 5 stars. Food 2 stars.

Partner had an entree of calamari 6 little pieces, and a few slices of beetroot and orange slices for 21 bucks. Calamari was rubbery…. For 21 dollars expecting a little more.

I had a small half chicken with a nice rub with a more than decent amount of coleslaw..: ok 29 bucks.

A small blow of hot chips 12 bucks.

Couple glasses of coke 5 dollars each….

Expensive meal, overpriced in my opinion left the restaurant feeling

Disgraceful greetings, This was the last of 3 we visited this day, was 3pm . We parked went in and was made to feel unwelcomed the moment the chap opened his mouth. Talked down to us, not hospitality at all. We the said the chap we will just go get something to eat at the café into which is part of the winery. The place stated it closed at 4pm when i asked the las if we could get something to eat she abruptly said were closed. Funny thing is still about 30 people seated in the cafe. So lose -lose for you both, my money stays in my pocket and the local fast food joint gets it.

We stayed in adjacent accommodation and on our first day visited the Cellar Door for a wine tasting. Staff member Holly greeted us with her ready smile and imparted her knowledge of the region and Vineyard wines with us. She was a treasure and a great ambassador for Oakdene.
We particularly liked the Wine Club, free membership and no minimum buy per annum - thank you Oakdene.
We look forward to enjoying our wines and reminiscing on our visit to the Cellar Door.

This is a wonderful peaceful place to stay, very accessible to Queenscliffe and other places on the peninsula. The room was extremely comfortable and beautifully furnished and the surroundings are gorgeous. We ate dinner at the cafe there all 3 nights - it was excellent food and very reasonably priced. The included continental breakfast in the room was a bit underwhelming - a small, day old (as it was delivered the day before needed) croissant, a slice of bread (the same pieces left for the 3 days, when we didn't eat them the first day), a piece of (not very fresh looking) fruit, and a yoghurt (we had to ask for the second yoghurt for the 2 people). There was also some meat, but as I am a vegetarian that was not of interest. However the coffee machine was excellent, and it was nice to be able to have something to eat before heading out. There were also a couple of tiny yummy pastries that we ate straightaway in the afternoon, that I guess we could have saved for breakfast, but seemed better to eat them fresh. Room service generally left a bit to be desired - one day they forgot to make the bed, though that didn't really matter to us at all. The staff in the restaurant and cafe were very friendly and they let us stay for a late checkout which was appreciated. Overall it was a very relaxing place to stay and we thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend away.

Thanks for your review of our Guesthouse & Cafe. Glad you enjoyed your stay with us & your meals at Mr Grubb @ Oakdene. We have recently changed cleaners and are having some issues, so will definately be chasing up why the bed wasn't made etc. We will also be looking at your breakfast issues, just not acceptable. Our sincere apologies.

Quirky and sweet little cellar door. Nothing remarkable, but not bad. Decent Merlot/Cab blend, and surprisingly floral Chardonnay that went down well. Peta's 2018 Pinot Noir was the highlight. Good service and knowledgeable staff

The four of us stopped by not knowing anything about the wines they produce but we left as firm converts!
The tasting was very thorough and friendly with no pressure to but. We tasted the range on offer and we all purchased from the cellar door. The fellow manning the tastings was very knowledgeable and took the time to answer questions and explain each of the wines. We will definitely be buying more in the future.
