Donjon - Medieval garden - Museum of country Life and TraditionRe-live the daily life of the middle Ages, by visiting the donjon restored and fortified over 5 floors, the donjon offers an exceptional view of the Vendeen Bocage from the Wall-walk. Walk through the medieval garden which blends, charmingly, the coulours and scents of the squares of vegetables, flowers, medicinal and culinary herbs.

This is a very well kept piece of French history and there are lots of artefacts to look at. Climb to the top of the tower for amazing views. The gardens are very well kept and laid out as they were for hundreds of years.

The Donjon is definitely an impressive structure. There is a lot of history here and it is worth taking the time to read the info sheets/cards. The visit is not interactive or multimedia, so no screen for you to swipe. Nevertheless the view from the...More

What a fabulous find. The Donjon and museum together with the forge are a great afternoon's entertainment. Definitely worth a detour. Also a terrific medieval garden.
